13 problems related to front driver side air bag inflator have been reported for the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Takata recall- immediately after receiving my recall notice, I called my local ram dealer. I was told that they were all out of parts, but I would be placed on a waitlist to have the airbag inflator replaced. I received this mailing close to a year ago, and still, no action has been taken to remedy the situation. If this recall were not something that affects safety, I would not be having a problem with the delay, but this has to do with passenger safety, and I am extremely frustrated that there still are not enough parts to have this recall fixed.
"takata recall" we traveled to louisiana to bury our family member on July 13, 2016. When we returned home we had a recall notice waiting for us (passenger airbag inflator). We were confused because we had already had both driver and passenger airbags worked on from recalls. We were told this is different, this is a recall on a recall. Basically, this is a interim notice and the dealership does not know when they will received a resolution to repair the airbag. This is our other main vehicle for transportation. Our other vehicle is our 2009 scion xb which is on recall for the same problem. We are disgusted. We can not get any deadlines, we can not sit in the passenger seat and this problems is taking too long. We need some answers and we need them, now. We are senior citizens, we have our medical issues and we definitely do not need this kind of stress and inconvenience.

Takata inflatores. I have been trying to schedule an appointment at gulf coast Chrysler Jeep to have recall p78 and r25 p81 taken care of for more than a year. I have even called 1-877-223-7634 twice and still nothing. The lady who handles the service department told me last year that my name was on page 4 of her file. When I called the above number, that rep called her. Again they stated they only had one of the items I needed. However, about a month ago a friend of mine here drove up there on a Monday and he was told to bring his identical truck in the next day and his items were fixed!! I'm tired of waiting, I'm tired of being told that they don't have all the parts needed. I was even told that the service department could not order any further inventory until they exhausted what was on hand. I would like to arrange to get these items fixed and soon. If not, then I will start going to the attorney generals office, the bbb and my lawyer. I received another notice in the mail today. How long is considered "within a reasonable time?".
Dodge Ram 1500. Consumer writes in regards to passenger airbag inflator recall issues. The consumer stated when the dealer replaced the air bag module, they broke a plug in the horn that rendered it inoperative.
Takata recall, I received two separated recalls for my vehicle the dealer I called for service has the driver airbag inflator but does not have a clue when the passenger airbag inflator will be available. I received the p78/NHTSA 14v770 over a year ago and it stated that I should contact a dealer for service on or after February 23, 2015. It is now February 18, 2016 and neither the dealer nor Chrysler can give me any idea when the parts will be available. I am waiting for both parts to be available before I have any repairs completed on my vehicle.
"takata recall" for driver airbag inflator have received three recall notices over the last eighteen months and have visited egolf moters in brevard, nc three times. Each time they say they can get only two parts per week. Today they said they are working on ausust 2015 now. They are working on a first-come-first- serve plan. "takata says the ammonium nitrate propellant doesn't cause problems until the degration process has proceeded a very long way, and then the results fairly quickly go to rupture". They say the process could take 10 years, while some lawyers say 7 years for some. Shouldn't they be changing the oldest first?.
Another single driver vehicle ran a stop sign and the single driver Dodge hit the driver's door directly and deployed both front air bags and totaled both vehicles. The drivers air bag launched metal into the left wrist and forearm of the driver while his hands were in the 10 and 2 o'clock steering wheel positions. The left wrist lacerations and large hematoma required hospital care and left scars. The driver also suffered lower back damage requiring surgery. The truck was totaled in January 2014 and sent for salvage. On December 15, 2014 I received a Chrysler safety recall (p40/NHTSA 14v-354) on the air bag inflators of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The problem in the recall notice is described as; “excessive internal pressure, during airbag deployment events, could result in an increased chance of occupant injury during certain crash conditions. ”.
