Six problems related to automatic transmission control module have been reported for the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Vehicle started to stall upon slowing down for a light or at a stop. Took it in to the dealership who upon first "diagnosing" did not find anything wrong/could not locate problem. Had general maintainance (tune-up, fuel injection svc. , oil change)done on vehicle at that time. Stalling continued. Took vehicle back again, pcm was replaced. Next day, stalling out again, even more than before.

Engine stalls while driving. Dealer installed updated pcm calibration. Stalling continues to occur during the same conditions, especially while turning, but less frequently.

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5. 7 hemi. We purchased the truck on April 20, 2004 & started having the stalling problem about 2 months ago. I have since taken the truck to the dealership where it was purchased 3 times to have the problem fixed. Each time the dealership has the truck 2 1/2 to 3 days. The truck does not stall while the accelerator is enacted. The rpm gauge will flutter when stopped & then it will drop & the truck will die. Some days the truck will stall only once or twice & other days the truck will stall up to 20 to 30 times. The dealership has replaced the following items: fault code, p0261, replaced pcm for erractic speed sensor signal. R&r pan & replaced trans filter per star 1763 wd94 0. 80. 5094274aa module-powertrain control, 5015267ac filter pkg-powertrain control, 5010884aa sealer, 5 atf bulk - +4.
Vehicle experienced sudden engine stalling at various speeds when on the road. Consumer contacted manufacturer, who was aware of the problem. Truck lost all power functions. It has to be completely stopped, put in park then restarted. Consumer was informed by dealer it maybe 6-8 weeks before they can fix it because the manufacturer was redesigning the pcm.
