14 problems related to brake disc rotor have been reported for the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
2004 Dodge Ram 1500 - brake rotor failure the brake rotors have failed 3 times on the vehicle. The rotors were failed by 9000 miles, 18000 miles, and 24000 miles. The dealer replaced the first two with oem equipment. Dodge claims there is no problem and that this is considered a maintenance item. Vehicle was driven almost exclusively on highway traffic for the 18000 to 24000 mile interval. The 24000 mile rotor replacement was done with performance aftermarket components.
I have encountered a series of brake rotor failures on my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 truck. Dealer has twice turned the rotors and once replaced them and the truck has less than 30,000 miles. I was told today that the rotors are warped again and need to be replaced. This truck is not driven hard and there is no good explanation for this problem other than poor quality parts or repair. Dodge will not warranty the brakes or their repairs to brakes. I have now spent over $400 at my local Dodge dealer. . . And no satisfaction. This is my first and last Dodge truck. Hopefully NHTSA will investigate the problem and force Dodge to act.
The contact stated the rotors warped. They have been replaced once and cut twice. The truck only had 17,794 miles on it. The truck had 6,000 miles on it the first time the rotors were replaced. The dealer did not know what the cause of the problem was.
Component: service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components:disc:rotor details: 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab hemi. At 10,000 miles lots of steering wheel shudder while braking. Many with same complaints. Had same problem with previous Chrysler product and brake repair stated the rotors are built to minimum tolerances. This is why the rotors warp. I see people are getting charged to fix this obvious manufacturers defect. Also, in emergency situations could be life threatening.
At 15,000 miles on vehicle -- vibration, sometimes severe, when braking at speeds over 30 mph. Dealer found all 4 rotors warped. After 3 trips back they performed repairs authorized by Chrysler in technical service bulletin 05-001-05 (replace pads, hub, cut rotors). Did not fix problem. Dealer claims nothing else he can do.
Rotors: rotors: rotors, I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 (hemi) and at 11,000 miles both my front and rear rotors were warped and rears were grooved like a record player. Dealer replaced the rotors but not the pads. I now have an additional 5,000 miles on the vehicle and again my rotors are warped.
Vehicle has approximately 16,000 miles on it. At approximately 11,000 miles, the brake rotors became warped. Initially, the condition was barely noticeable and progressive escalated until it became a violent shudder. The rotors were resurfaced at the dealer at approx 12,300 miles (at my expense). The vehicle has again begun to show signs of this occuring. Refer also to complaint numbers 10059615, 10087061, 10086270, and 10087061.
Front brake rotors warped. Mileage driven was less than 13,500. No cause on operator part for failure. Had rotors turned to correct problem.
I have a 2004 Dodge ram that barely has 12,000 miles on it, and the rotors are already warped. The brakes are getting to the point that you can almost loose control of the vehicle even at low speeds. I haven't been to the dealer yet, but already know the likely out come. This has been a known problem with Dodge/Chrysler vehicles for years and continue to plague even the new models. There is an extremely large number of websites posting complaints on this very issue and Dodge/Chrysler has refused to do anything to correct the problem other than put on a quick band-aid. Then they won't even do that after 12,000 miles. I previously owned a 99 grand cherokee with the same exact problem and am very disgruntled that it is still a problem almost 5 years later with the new vehicles. I do not think people are too happy spending 25k to 30000 on a vehicle that they have to take in and get the same thing fixed over and over every 6 -10k miles during the life of the vehicle. This is truly an issue that needs to be investigated extensively.
2004 Dodge ram p/u 20" rims. Braking problem: returned to dealer for second time to replace warped rotors seems to occur approx. Every 7000 miles. Apparent design problem - resulting in diminished braking capability.
Rotors warped at 14000 miles and now are warped again at 24000 miles. Dealer states driving habits. Never had this problem with any other vehicle and didn't expect it from a 35000 dollar, tough built truck. Something needs to be done.
The front rotors on my Dodge Ram 1500 have warped and been replaced twice in 5 months. Dealer states this is uncommon.
Rotors warped without warning.
2004 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab hemi. At 10,000 miles lots of steering wheel shudder while braking. Dealer replaced rotors, pads and calipers under warranty. At about 17,000 I start getting the same problem. Dealer repaced again. This seems to be an epidemic and I see people are getting charged to fix this obvious manufacturers defect.
