Instrument Panel problems of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

Two problems related to instrument panel have been reported for the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2010

The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. While the contact was driving approximately 30 mph, a fire ignited from the instrument panel without warning. Immediately, the engine was turned off; and the contact exited the vehicle. There were no personal injuries. The fire department was called to the scene. A police report was filed of the incident. The vehicle was completely destroyed and towed to the residence. The failure mileage was 57,000. The VIN was not available at the time of the complaint.

2 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2010

The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that all of the lights on the instrument panel illuminated as the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure but advised replacing the speed sensor, which appeared to be defective. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but offered no further assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 88,000.
