Two problems related to wiring have been reported for the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2013

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle caught on fire while parked. The vehicle was destroyed. After an investigation it was determined that there was faulty wiring under the instrument panel, which caused the fire. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The failure and current mileage was 151,000.

2 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2006

When headlights are on--usually at night--dash lights will dim and intensify intermittently while driving. Dome light has come on occasionally. I appreciated the service department's efforts to educate me on my vehicle the last time I brought it in for this problem, but I am fully aware of how the dome light switch works. 2. Turn signal does not function safely. Intermittently, while driving, right turn signal does not work when engaged. After trying a multitude of times to engage, signal comes on, but does not stay on constantly. Signal will blink, stop and start randomly. Sometimes, the opposite signal will blink. 3. When headlights and fog lights were on, fog lights and/or headlights have cut out. This was not a result of switching to high beam.
