Brake Disc Caliper problems of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Five problems related to brake disc caliper have been reported for the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Disc Caliper problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2015

Approx. In 2012 I filed a complaint that the rear pinion gear had snapped on my truck. The dealership recommended installing a new / used rear end. I had the used rear end installed. On 5-7-2015 while on the highway the axle on the rear end abruptly broke. This occurred at approx. 60 mph. Almost causing a catastrophe. The wheel broke away as well as the brake caliper, thus loosing my brakes. As a result damage to the body also occurred. As I said I did file a previous complaint but was told that even though there is a recall on the rear ends on some of these models mine was not one. I paid the $2,500 or so to have that resolved. I feel this shouldn't have ever happened as this vehicle let alone twice. As of now my vehicle is awaiting a inspection from the dealership as well as insurance.

2 Brake Disc Caliper problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2009

My 2006 Ram 1500 2 wheel drive, big horn edition shakes while braking at approximately 70 mph until it slows to approximately 55 mph. Noone can find the problem. The truck shakes so badly, it feels like the front end is going to shake off! I have replace all 4 tires, had wheels balanced, replaced all 4 rotors, brakes, calipers, inner and outer tierods, front wheel hubs, shocks and the truck still shakes so bad that im scared I will be thrown into oncoming traffic if I had to stop fast. . . . I cannot find the problem and no one, not even the dealer can find the cause!.

3 Brake Disc Caliper problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2008

I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 with aprox. 54,000. The rotor and brakes went out on the left side only, when I took it to the dealership they stated my caliper was bad, thus causing the rotor and brakes, the caliper is covered by warranty not the rotor & brakes, a check shows the abs module was recalled on 2006 Dodge rams, my VIN is in the range for the recall, but mine is not in the recall (according to them), however they have no explanation of why so much damage at so little miles. A review of complaints shows several issues with rotor, pads & calipers on these vehicles all with low mileage.

4 Brake Disc Caliper problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2008

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving 65 mph, the front end began to shutter. After slowing down and accelerating, the failure ceased. The contact struck a pothole and the vehicle began shaking again. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic and they stated that the front driver side caliper was frozen. The VIN, engine size, and number of cylinders were unknown. The current mileage was 37,480 and failure mileage was 37,400.

5 Brake Disc Caliper problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2006

Transmission makes load snapping noise when shifting into any gear from park. Front brakes caliper sticking causing brakes and rotors to over heat creating sequel and massive amount of dust and vehicle is sluggish from the brakes sticking so acceleration is basically non existent. Load humming from front wheels which leads to a shimmy and eventually a shake.
