Six problems related to turn signal switch have been reported for the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
When using my turn signals (mainly left signal) the opposite turn signal comes on indicating I am turning right instead of left. Several instances I have come close to a near accident. This is not a consistent problem, but very intermittent. Research that I have done states that the multifunction switch needs to be replaced. Very unsafe to have turn signals working improperly. This issue has been happening for about 2 years that I know of.
When using the left turn signal the right signal sometimes flashes. Sometimes the left signal will flash for a few seconds, then the right signal will flash a few times. Failures are intermittent and inconsistent. Also, the wipers and washers operate intermittently, and the high beam switch works about 20% of the time, sometimes requiring a stop to actuate the switch repeatedly so as not to blind oncoming traffic.
When the left turn signal was tuned on, the indicator light inside and outside would indicate as such and then it would switch to the right turn signal even with the switch in the left turn signal position. Sometimes when the left turn signal was applied, it would switch to the right and then continue to switch back and forth from right to left.
I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. I bought this vehicle approx. July 2011 and since I can remember, the vehicle has done the same thing. The problem is in the multi switch( windshield wipers, and turn signals). When I flip the turn signal down the right blinker will come on. This happens about 50% of the time when engaging that switch. In this same switch is the windshield wipers. This is also affected sometimes by not engaging them or not running correctly. This has caused me many problems and am worried it could result in a wreck.
Vehicle was experiencing turn signal recurring failures. While driving at any speed the turn signals either would not function or the opposite turn signal from intended signal would illuminate. Service writer suggested to replace multi-function switch to correct problem, his comment was that this is a common failure. Ultimately the multi-function switch was replaced with no other issue identified as the problem.
Multifunction switch malfunction on 2007 Dodge ran 1500. Turn signal signals wrong direction on occasion (based on first experience this gets worse with time) and windshield wipers do not function properly. The turn signal issue causes a significant hazard when you intend to turn or change lanes one direction and your turn signal is indicating the opposite of your intention. The windshield wiper issue causes a safety hazard when they fail to operate in the rain. Had the switch replaced in 2008 or 2009 around 30k miles and it is now failing again at 59,000 miles.
