The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while going to start the vehicle, the contact became aware that there was an object hanging down by the driver's side rear wheel well. The contact observed that the metal strap had detached from the fuel tank. The contact stated that the metal strap was extremely corroded. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 18v160000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 113,999.
2008 Ram 1500 laramie 2wd 5. 7 hemi: poor fuel mileage, 9 - 10 mpg city 14 - 17 mpg hwy. Advised dealer @ 843 miles dealer checked and said I should learn how to drive and there is nothing wrong with truck. I am 50 years old & do not hot rod the truck. Still the same now with over 2,000 miles on it. Chrysler refuses to help.
