The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 13v528000 (steering), but the dealer stated that the repair was unnecessary. Several months later, while driving 25 mph, the power steering failed and the vehicle vibrated violently. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 120,600.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at low speeds and trying to make a u-turn the steering wheel became very loose. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who advised her that there was a voluntary recall and repaired the steering drag link bracket. While driving at low speeds she heard a loud thumping noise and couldn't tell where it was coming from. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who advised her that the power steering gear box failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the parts being on a back order. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
