3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2023

The shifter began changing gears on its own. Before the recall came out my mechanic checked and there was no recall for this until 2018. I was never notified of the recall. Then on rear axle pinion nut. The nuts were installed without the proper amount of adhesive. Consequently, the nuts can loosen, and cause the rear axle to lock up, causing a loss of vehicle control. I was never notified of and the rear end came down while on the freeway. The fuel tank began leaking I repaired this before the recall came out. I submitted a reimbursement request they denied me stating my car was over 7 years old.

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2022

Gas tank straps causing fuel tank to drop from under truck. The Chrysler recall 18v160000 or u04 covers this problem but they tell me my VIN is not included in the recall. I live on the outer banks of nc and we at times have salt water standing on the side of the roads. And this is the same problem in this recall. I am deputy chief of the local fire department and we have 4 of the trucks and all have the same problem also. My truck has 150,000 miles on it and is well taken care of. This truck has a nc dot inspection every year.

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2019

When fueling the truck, fuel overflows after the pump shuts off. This causes fuel to spill out onto the truck and ground. The amount is significant and leaves a pool of fuel on the ground. This happens at any gas station, at any pump regardless of time of day or season. The pictures I attached are examples I found on line that illustrate the issue exactly as I experience it.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2015

My wife was driving the vehicle home with the kids inside when she heard a dragging noise. Once at home she noticed something hanging below the truck. When I arrived at home I checked the truck and found the fuel cell hanging down because the frame had rotted out and the strap pulled away from the frame. I contacted my local Dodge dealer who took pictures and submitted a claim to Dodge who then said the problem was no longer there concern. They explained to me the vehicle was over the 100,000 mile warranty and it was not a safety issue. Mind you that its a plastic fuel cell with a metal strap creating sparks that had it been punctured would have certainly ignited with my family inside the vehicle on a road traveling at 70 miles per hour!!!! this issue has been reviewed by several mechanics and all have been baffled as to how the frame of the truck has rotted away where the straps holding the fuel cell attach to the vehicle.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. While refueling the vehicle, fuel spewed from the filler neck and onto the ground. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the hose connector for the gasoline was too small and the small size of the hose allowed fuel to spill out preventing the contact was not able to fill the vehicle with gasoline. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was 148,000.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2013

I received safety recall n08/NHTSA 13v-038 approximately 4 months ago. To date, the manufacturer has not provided the dealer with the proper part (rear axle pinion nut) to correct the problem. I have been advised that failure of this part could cause a crash without warning.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2012

I was driving the 2009 Dodge ram that I purchased in July 2010. While driving on the highway on I-20w in georgia, the drive shaft fell off. The whole drive shaft fell off. Luckily no one got hurt. The cars behind me had to stop. The ram quickly lost speed, and I had to pull to the side of the highway. The tow truck driver told me that I was lucky the truck did not flip over. A bunch of fluids came out of where the drive shaft was supposed to be. When the tow truck driver tried to attach the ram to his truck it was noticed that the rear tires locked up. He said the differential locked up. I have checked some Dodge online forums, and this seems to be a common enough problem that it needs to be addressed.

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

Every time that anyone fuels the vehicle, it pours gasoline out of the filler neck. It pours out all over the side of the truck, ground, and sometimes, the person fueling the truck. I have contacted my local Dodge dealer and they informed me that they are aware of the problem, but there is not a campaign to repair the issue. The issue is a major safety and environmental hazard.
