2 Rear Seat Belt problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 02/28/2006

I own a 2003 Dodge ram with about 46,000 miles. In less than 3 years I have owned the vehicle, all three rear seat belts have had a crack in part of the seat belt that prevents the belt from sliding when it is used to secure a child seat. The first 2 were replaced under warranty, but the third now will be replaced at my cost. Dodge has refused to assist in the matter, and they also refuse to recognize that the plastic piece they have designed to prevent the seat belt from sliding is woefully inadequate. The dealer I went to also was of no help fighting for the consumer. You would think that after three failures, a bulb would come on. Date of incident is approximate but after warranty.

3 Rear Seat Belt problem of the 1997 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 08/05/2003

We own a 1997 Dodge ram truck. While I was buckling two infants seats in our rear seat using the over the shoulder belts, the locking plates that keep the belt tight around the car seats popped off. Therefore I am not able to use those seat belts currently for car seats. I contacted my local Dodge dealer and told them the problem. They told me it would cost $130 plus labor to have each belt replaced. I do not think I should have to pay for this since it is a safety issue. If these plates will pop off with me tightening, who is not to say they will not come off in an accident. Currently I have to have one car seat in the front passenger seat (which is not the safest place) and the other in the middle back (which is okay). Please let me know if you have any suggestions or can help me in any way. Thank you.

4 Rear Seat Belt problem of the 1998 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/11/2002

98 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up. Seat belt failure leading to the release of infant car seat. Called Chrysler customer service on more than one occasion only to be treated like a child and told there was nothing they could do. While driving my pick up and stopping at a traffic light, my sons infant seat came loose and lunged forward. He was about1 year old at the time and as a result, hit his head on the back of the passenger seat. The seat belts are designed in a manner that there is a little peice of plastic that retains the belt portion, in turn, this is what retains the infant seat. Both my wife and I took classes at the local dealarship so as to be able to do the installation correctly long prior to this event. I did take the truck in to try and have the now faulty belts replaced only to be turned away. I now have to comb through the local junk yards frequently to find new belts with all the correct pieces. I still have the truck and only recently learned of your site. How can faulty seat belts be ignored. Currently, both the drivers and passengers belts do not function correctly. The date below and the following milages are approx. Guesses. I have also put (1) for numbered of persons injured, but it was nothing severe luckily.

5 Rear Seat Belt problem of the 1998 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 03/03/2001

Due to the seat belts assembly coming apart our baby seat became loose causing seat with infant to lung forward upon braking. Tried several times to get assistance through the Chrysler 1-800 # for complaints and issues. As a matter of fact, I was treated with a complete lack of concern for such a critical. Attempted to take care of it through a local dealership who upon calling the 1-800# for Chrysler service to see that it would be covered being a seat belt failure, were refused. At this point, I junk yard whole seat belts and replace them every time they fall apart which is very often. I have replaced all or part of (4) belt assemblies in the area of (9) times since the date noted.
