I have not reproduced or confirmed this issue with a dealership or independent service center. The component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance agency. A red seatbelt warning light will appear when the seatbelts lock up and goes away when it unlocks.

Failure Date: 12/07/2017

I called the dealership to schedule my recall repair. They told me I did not have any active recalls on my vehicle. After an unpleasant back and forth I was finally able to get a manager or "advisor" on the phone. The advisor determined that I did in fact have an active recall. This error was extremely unprofessional, unacceptable and could have endangered my life and the lives of anyone in my vehicle as the safety risk of the recall is "the loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment capability during a crash may increase the risk of injury or death. " (NHTSA recall number17v-302). While this instance is the most egregious from a safety perspective, this is not the first time ourisman jcd of alexandra, va has been reckless or negligent with my vehicle and I would like to file a formal complaint. Errors like this could lead to myself or someone else getting seriously injured or worse.

16 Seat Belt problem of the 1999 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 06/05/2017

Our seat belts locked up on our 1999 Dodge Ram 1500. Took our Dodge truck to Dodge dealership 06/05/2017 who said our seat belt control module had gone out. We paid $400 to replace. Pickup on 06/26/2017. 3 days later 06/29/2017 while towing our 20 ft north river boat across charleston harbor bridge on the down hill side to port launch ramp our vehicle power shut down, seat belts locked up again and our boat weight pushed hitch into our truck destroying the hitch and wheel jack. The boat had to be towed ( $399) to be repaired and $150. In hitch repairs. The truck itself would not start until the battery negative wire was removed. Vehicle was driven directly to dealership about 5 miles away. A local police officer was following behind our vehicle and stopped to help; calling a tow truck. No report was filed or required. After a 2 wk delay they could not find a replacement module saying they were discontinued. Admitted they had installed a module ( not a seat belt module supposedly by mechanics error) requested our money back which they did 07/14/2017. We have been searching unsuccessfully online and other sources which say they are discontinued, not available. Our state and city law carries a $250 dollar fine for no seat belt use more importantly we our now subject to extreme possibility of death or maiming in an accident. According to some information this also affects our air bags which may cause failure of them. We have been told our insurance is null and void if we don't have seat belts and even if we could get a mechanic to do a work around ( which they refused due to the liability issues) insurance still void. In case of our death or injury there will be a lawsuit against Dodge. It won't do us much good! this is not acceptable. Dodge should be forced to provide a law required seat belt module repair. How many people will die before they fix the problem?.

Driver's seatbelt was properly buckled and would not release when arrived at home. After attempting to free the buckle and sitting in the truck for nearly an hour, my family member finally arrived home and had to cut the belt to release me. Thank god this incident did not involve a collision or fire. Reported the issue to Chrysler customer assistance on the same evening via email. Still working to resolve the matter, nearly a month later. Seatbelt remains stuck in buckle and unable to be released. I refuse to pay $516 to have this repaired. This is apparently a faulty design; and I'm not the only one complaining about the 07 Ram 1500 seatbelts. My truck is still immaculate in condition and very well maintained. It is driven 100 highway miles per day to work; hence the high mileage. Not one problem with this truck until now. I'm very disappointed in Dodge (Chrysler) and the dealer in leaving this matter unresolved. No seatbelt should ever fail. . . . .

Front seat belts on the Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab (driver and passenger side) are locked - they will not pull out of the retractor mechanism built into the seat back, so they cannot be used. Seat belts are supposed to be a fairly simple mechanical design because of the safety issues involved, but apparently Chrysler chose to use an onboard computer to electrically complicate the issue. Seat belt control module will not release retracted belts to allow driver or passenger to wear seat belts. This makes the vehicle unsafe and illegal to properly operate. Module is no longer manufactured or carried by any national parts warehouse. Dodge advised for me to call a dedicated supplier of parts for older vehicles and was told these were not available anywhere on a database any longer. There are several blogs with owners stating same issues with their trucks and Dodge has not recalled this safety item or accommodated anyone with these problems as of date.

Failure Date: 10/11/2014

I contacted Chrysler 3 times and no one wanted to address this problem, this was not caused by an accident ,theres no frame or external damages caused to the vehicle , this shouldn't of happened , I was driving normal and the airbags shot out of nowhere bruising my arm and around my collar. I driving the car the way it is with no horn , seatbelts locked, and bags exposed. I have no way of getting to work so im forced to drive like this , I need this to be adressed because this is putting me and who ever sits in my car in danger because Chrysler does not want to take action ,I shouldn't have to pay for this if this is somethimg that comes defective from factory.
