13 problems related to structure have been reported for the 2000 Dodge Ram 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Structure problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

The contact owns a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the dashboard was fractured. The dashboard was previously replaced twice for the same failure. The contact was afraid that the air bags would deploy without warning. The dealer was not notified of the failure and no repairs were made. The failure mileage was 90,000.

2 Structure problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2010

I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 with approx. 58k miles. The dash board developed a couple cracks a few years into ownership. At this point the dash is literally falling to pieces. Large holes have developed exposing wires and very sharp edges. Pieces will simple break off without ever touching the dash. I am unable to drive the vehicle because I feel it is unsafe to have all the exposed wiring. I would replace the dash however I am told it will do it again as Chrysler has not corrected the manufacturing process of the dash or that the new dash I would get would be old stock of the same material.

3 Structure problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2010

The contact owns a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 quad. The contact stated that the dashboard in his vehicle was broken, exposing the air bag and wiring. The dealer was contacted and offered no assistance. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was approximately 103,800. The failure mileage was approximately 103,500.

4 Structure problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2009

My 2000 Dodge 2500 dashboard has shattered and completely fallen in. The pieces range in size from softball to slivers. I have covered the gaping hole with carpet. The lack of a dashboard has exposed wiring to the elements, the airflow to the defroster and dash vents is disrupted, and created a shrapnel hazard. There is not enough structure left for installation of a glue over dash cap and will require the entire dash to be replaced; there is a problem with the dashboards Dodge should be taking responsibility for this.

5 Structure problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2008

My complaint is on a 2000 Dodge 2500 for a cracked and disintegrated dashboard. The dashboard has collapsed; exposing wiring to the elements, diffusing and eliminating the defrost and dash vents, and creating shrapnel hazards to occupants in the event of a crash or air bag deployment. The failure of the dashboard progressed from two several inch cracks to complete failure in the course of 2 months.

6 Structure problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2008

Dash in my 2000 Dodge 2500 is cracking and falling in which could cause electrical issues because of exposure to the sun. I have been checking on line and this seems to be hugh problem across the country. I believe Dodge should be held accountable for putting such a poor quality product on the road, the way the dash is caving in could cause injury or death if the air bags deploy in a accident.

7 Structure problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2008

The dashboard of my 2000 Dodge ram pickup truck has caved in. It was hidden by a fuzzy dashboard cover when we purchased the truck last year as "used" and only discovered the problem when we removed the cover. It turns out it is a known problem with Chrysler, but they will not repair it.

8 Structure problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2006

Dashboard on my 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 is cracked an pieces are falling out leaving a big hole in the dashboard.

9 Structure problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2006

I own a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 pick up truck with diesel, about a year ago my dash started to deteriorate falling off in chunks. I can see where this could be a safety issue. It could fall down in the way of the peddles or cause damage if in an accident by flying all over the place.

10 Structure problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2004

The contact owns a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the entire dashboard was fractured and some pieces had detached. The failure began in 2004 and worsened over time. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was file. The manufacturer advised that they would contact him at a later date for possible assistance. The failure mileage was 10,000 and the current mileage was 67,313.
