Three problems related to engine have been reported for the 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
: the contact stated while driving 30 mph the engine started sputtering and smoking resulting in a loss of power. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop for inspection. The mechanic determined the injection pump needed to be replaced, which no repairs were made. Also, the mechanic noticed the tie rods were pulling apart on the front left and right side. The mechanic replaced the front left and right tie rods and ball joints. The dealership and manufacturer were alerted.
Engine crank vent system discharges a large amount of vapor & hydro carbon. When the heat is on it seeps through ducts and burns the eyes. Chrysler is aware of problem. But, problem will come back each time oil is changed. Dealer performed TSB 09-02-00, however fumes were evident for up to 700 miles.
Consumer called complaining about having problems with the engine oil. Also stated that while driving the vehicle all the engine oil blow out. Dealer was contacted and stated that the oil filter was put in wrong. Ts.
