I had a wiper motor failure. My understanding of the Dodge ram is there is a total integrated power module that controls wipers, lights and other electrical devises. Once the tipm see's the 5th fault it shuts down what ever is causing the fault. In my case it was a wiper problem. Once the unit faults it has to be replaced and programmed for the vehicle. Cost $1264. 56 for a wiper motor repair.
On multiple occasions when I put the left turn signal on, the signal will start flashing as though the right turn signal had been actuated. Sometimes the right signal starts flashing as soon as I turn the left signal on. On other occasions I will be stopped with the left signal flashing and it will intermittently start flashing to the right for no apparent reason. Occasionally neither of the signals will flash.
The blinkers are erratic. The left blinker comes on when the right is applied and vise versa. The blinkers will switch sides in the middle of a turn and at times they will bounce back and forth between right and left turn. The windshield wipers will just turn themselves off at times and or speed up and slow down by themselves at times. Seems very dangerous and a recall should be considered. At the minimum a technical bulletin describing the problem should be issued. This seems to be a common problem with this model.
Turn signals will switch back and forth. If you have left turn signal on, it will switch to right signal then back to left and vice versa.
When I activate left turn signal the right turn signal activates. When I activate the right turn signal it operates correctly. Also doesn't seem to happen when tilt steering is in up position only when tilt steering is in down position. Also windshield wipers have stopped working mid rotation. Then started working again in a short time period. I believe these problems are related.
I have had the abs system warning light on 5 or 6 times , turn signal problems- both turn signals work at same time, a/c problems with the compressor not working at times and now is out all together. Abs and the lighting issue is the biggest problem since it is a 2500 truck and I hall hay , tractors and a 30 ft 5th wheel trailer, people need to know what I am doing or can I stop.
The rear door wires have broken on both doors, losing all connectivity to the main power source. As a result, power locks and lights that are connected in the rear cannot be activated from the main console. The doors have to be locked manually. This is a known failure with Dodge trucks and needs to be recalled. The dealer even admitted to this being a chronic problem with the rear doors on this model.
While driving, the headlights will go off by themselves.
Low beam headlights went out while driving came back on and went out again turn signals operate backwards turn on the left and the right comes on. Dealership says it is the tipm and it is a common problem, seems that it is an extreme safety issue to me that effects a lot of Dodge vehicles.
Wrong direction of turn signal comes on when activating the switch.
Headlights- the passenger side headlight would come on then go off whenever it wants to and now the low beam does not work. I have tested the connection and replaced the bulb several times and still does not work. When driving at night it makes it difficult to see. And is also against the law to not having working headlights. Trailer lights- the drivers side brake light/blinker on any trailer that’s hooked to my truck does not work. I have taken it the a local shop (street dynamics which is out of business now) several times over the last 5 years to see if they can fix the issue. The fix was to put a jumper wire from the truck brake light to the trailer connector. I still do not have a blinker on the driver side of the trailer. Windshield wipers- the windshield wipers will come on and off whenever they want. Some times when it is raining they will turn on with the switch then will turn off while driving or will stay on after the switch is turned off. The switch has been replaced and did not change anything. It is dangerous to drive the truck during inclement weather. I am a police officer and have been for 17 years. In the last 12 plus years I have owned the truck which is a 2006 Dodge 2500 I have been told by several Dodge technicians and mechanics that the issues I’m having is being caused by the tipm. While researching the tipm I have found out all of my trucks issues are similar to a lot of other people’s 2006 Dodge 2500s. I have had issues with the trailer brake lights since I bought it.
While towing trailer back left blinker and back left brake lights failed to work. Then back left blinker on truck stopped working. . Problem is in the vehicles computer, dealer only item that cost $712. Some thing called "tipm". Just type in blinker problem for Dodge ram on google and watch and see how many other people are having this hudge saftey problem. Please look into this problem, peoples lives are at on the line!!! thank you.
The turn signal switch the opposite of what has been selected on the steering column. If the left turn is selected the right turn lights come on and indicate you are making a right turn. The high beam switch does not always work. The wipers are not reliable either.
Got a letter from Chrysler that I was supposed to get my turn signals fixed if I had this problem I did have the problem but it doesn't happen all the time, took the truck to dealer and they told me that they will not fix this turn signal problem if it isn't happening when they test it at dealer it is an intermittent problem and does not happen all the time but I believe that this is a major safety issue because if I am signaling one way and my truck is showing a different way that could possibly cause a crash or cause me to get a ticket. I believe this should be a recall and not just be fixed if the dealer can see it for them selves and was told by the dealer and Chrysler customer assistance that they will do nothing if they don't see this problem at dealer but I could be any where and if it happens im supposed to stop what im doing and take truck over to them and hope it is still doing it when I get there other wise o well. That's pretty much what I get from them.
When driving in rain at a safe speed, wipers would not come on, and then the wipers would start and stop working. When I switched on a turn blinker, both blinkers began to flash. Our local Dodge dealership says there are on back order 4,000 of this part required to fix this problem. There have been complaints about this since 2009. Does it take a loss of life for a recall to take place?.
I own a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 megacab with 5. 9 diesel engine. The agency has received three reports of improper turn signal function. The complainants report that moving the turn signal stalk to signal a left turn can result in no flashing of the left turn signal but improper flashing of the right turn signal. Likewise the same opposite improper operation occurs when moving the turn signal stalk to signal a right turn. The incorrect flashing signal appears at both the dashboard indicator light and at the exterior front and rear turn signal lighting positions. There are many complaints replated to this issue on the web and it is very dangerous. Please advise.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated when the left turn signal was activated the right turn signal began to flash. The contact stated when the lights were on the windshield wiper fluid activated. The contact stated the indicator relayed the incorrect information causing the wrong signal to work or potentially cause a crash. The contact stated the entire electrical system on the steering column was faulty. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic who stated the multi-function switch needed to be replaced. The contact did not have the multi-function switch replaced. The failure mileage was 112,000. Rvk.
Dash lights stopped working. They had went out once before but came back on the next day. After another day they went back out and haven't worked since.
Turn signal will either not work or show the wrong side flashing (have almost been rear-ended), wipers wouldn't work properly or at all (go very slow or not move at all when on, causing me not being able to see when it's raining hard). Flashers won't turn on at all. Happens every time I need my flashers, wipers, and blinkers. Replaced the multi-function switch and all of the problems above are fixed. I still have the old switch and I have heard it's a common problem.
The contact owns 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the turn signal was defective and would illuminate sporadically without being activated. The dealer was notified of the failure and diagnosed that the multifunction switch needed repairs. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,500 and the current mileage was 60,000.
I was half way to my destination driving on a busy highway at 75mph pulling both my horses and my three horse trailer in a rain storm when the wipers sporadically stopped working. On the high setting they went to low, then stopped, then started again going fast, then completely quit posing a serious hazard to myself, my animals, and all around me on the highway. I was able to move over onto the shoulder and wait it out a while until I could attempt to complete my trip. With so many complaints I don't understand why this hasn't been recalled. I have replaced the wiper motor which only made the wipers move very slowly. There is still a problem, likely quite expensive, which will need to be fixed. My truck is driven very sparingly and had only 75000 miles at the time of wiper failure.
The turn signal light will sometimes not work or work by itself, the wind shield wipers will some times not work, the truck has 200,000 miles on it the problem at this stage has not be corrected.
2500 2006 Dodge truck, multifunction switch controls wiper function will stop working during rainstorms while driving, resulting in a dangerous safety hazard, Dodge needs to have a recall now! I have had 2 near misses!.
Trying to merg onto a highway in the rain my vehicles blinkers, light adjustment, and windshield wipers would not activate. This event didn't result in an accident but is a dangerous result of a poorly designed multi-function switch that controls blinkers and windsheild wipers. This problem has occured previously but not to the extent for myself or other to come into harm as it did today.
1. No events led to the failure. The windshield wipers slowed and eventually stopped while driving at highway speeds and I almost crashed with my wife and children in the vehicle. 2. Wipers are now inoperable. 3. I am unable to fix the vehicle because of huge costs for the parts that could have been avoided with a simple and cheap fuse. Parts are hard to find used and are VIN number specific. The manufacturer knows there is a problem with the design and ase certifed mechanics recognize this fact. Yet, Dodge continues to charge rediculous amounts for these parts. On 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 turbo diesel, windshild wipers began working very slow in high speed, didn't work on any other speed, and finally stopped all together. This almost had severe consequences for my family as we were traveling at highway speeds in heavy rain. After further research, the totally integrated power module (tipm) was designed without a fuse in case of a power surge or short. It is my understanding that problems arise from the headlights, running lights and turn signals directly related to this power module failure as well. It was reported several times on forums that people were in near crash situations because of turn signals acting erratically and signaling the wrong direction and wipers stopping during heavy rainstorms. Something must be done to protect the consumer. The parts to fix this problem are only available at the dealership and parts alone are $737. Labor would also be necessary at $94 to just hook the vehicle to a star scan tool. I am not sure why this was never recalled when lives can be at stake because of poor engineering. More and more of the incidences are being reported as the vehicles age. Please help the owner of these vehicles before lives are lost.
Tl. The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated the tipm has malfunctioned causing every electrical component not to work. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer and the dealer stated the tipm needs to be replaced. The contact has not had the tipm replaced. The dealer does not know what caused the tipm to malfunction. The contact stated there is know way of telling if the new tipm will not malfunction while driving. The contact stated there are numerous complaints regarding the tipm and a recall should be issued. The failure mileage was 185,000. Jo.
The left turn signal activates the opposite or both left and right turn signals.
2006 Dodge 2500 / turn signal problems.
Turn signal intermittently fails or signals the opposite direction.
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the turn signals would provide erroneous warning indications. The air conditioner was also inoperable. The contact inspected the vehicle himself and located the failure at the power control module. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage 150,000.
Turn signal malfunction, activate the left signal and the right turns on. Activate the right signal and nothing happens. Sometimes when the left is activated both signals work like hazard flashers.
Turn signals do not work properly. When you put on your left turn signal it will light up as a right turn signal often and same when you put on your right turn signal the left will light up. Most of the time however my turn signals will not even come on. This has almost caused several accidents its really bad when I am pulling trailers. In rain storms and snow storms my windshield wipers will occasionally just stop and only have 1 speed which is slow. . . . I have had to pull over alot and just wait for my windshield wipers to work again.
This has accured several times, while using turn signals. While driving I turn on the left signal and the right one seems to come on and then at times they will just all blink on and off. Then at other times while using the turn signals. The lights go fast then goes out. I feel this is a important and major saftey feature of this vehicle/ truck. I went and ask the local Dodge dealer service advisor about this problem. The advisor said he never heard of it. And further that warranty was out at 36000 miles. I was in the belief . That safety items on new vehicles were covered for 5 years 100000 miles. . . This problem will cause a accident. The ? is when. . . Please recall this problem before someone gets hurt while turning due to the from a faulty turn signal that hes been found on the 2006 Dodge ram pick up.
When turn signal is used, vehicle signals in the opposite direction. This is the second time this has happened. Last time multifunction switch was replaced and there was no issue until now. Previous multifunction switch was replaced approx 1 year ago.
I have a 2006 Dodge megacab 2500 I recently purchased. The turn signal multiswitch has a malfunction which seems to be a common problem. When I turn my left blinker on, the right signal will also blink and vice versa. The is a safety issue that can cause an accident.
