Two problems related to steering rack and pinion have been reported for the 2011 Dodge Ram 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Total loss of power steering due to plastic liner installed in p/s pressure hose becoming dislodged and working its way into the rack/pinion steering gear causing blockage of fluid flow- replacement of pump, rack/pinion and pressure hose needed to correct defect.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Dodge 2500. The contact stated that while in reverse he noticed a vibration in the steering wheel, brake pedal, and in the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated the rack and pinion would have to be replaced. After the repair the failure continued. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000. Da.
