3 Wheel problem of the 1995 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 02/09/2020

The truck has experienced the phenonomen known as the death wobble. Extremely violent shaking of the steering wheel and front suspension to the point that the vehicle is almost out of control. Today it happened at 70 mph on the freeway. It has happened as slow as 40 my in the past. I had to pull over very quickly on the freeway today in a very dangerous scenario with semi trucks coming up behind me. Twice I have taken it to mechanics that have replaced the track bar and the steering damper. It is a recurring problem even when you take preventative measures. I am afraid to drive the vehicle. It was extremely dangerous today.

5 Wheel problem of the 2001 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 05/12/2018

My vehicle was in motion driving on a highway at the rate of 45mph-50mph my husband was driving, I was passenger, and my 2 year old son was in his car seat in the back. All the sudden we hit a small bump in the road, no bigger than your average pot holes and the entire truck broke out into an abrupt shake! it was throwing my husbands and my body around the shake was so intense the steering was controllable but extremely hard. It felt as though our tires were flying right off the vehicle. My husband braked and the violent shake seized and we immediately pulled over and parked the truck. We check and shook all tires they were secure. We looked under the truck everything seemed in place and secure. Once we got home I researched the issue and learned of the "death wobble" most Dodge trucks have because of the "y" steering bar which most years have a recall to fix the issue however when I called my local Dodge they informed me my year of truck doesn't have the recall. This "death wobble" has been known to cause rollovers and accidents. I reached out to chrystler to see if they would fix it and they informed me because there is no recall they wouldn't. We are talking peoples, and others on the road safety! I don't see why they wouldn't want to pay to fix a steering bar which is what maybe $1000 but have the possibility for lives to be lost?.

8 Wheel problem of the 1998 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 08/23/2017

I have a 98 Ram 2500 v10 if I go about 65 mph there is a massive wobble in the steering wheel but if I speed up to 70 it stops or if I slow down to 60 it stops. There should be a recall on this because all of the ram trucks that I have had do this exact same thing.

9 Wheel problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 08/22/2017

I was going 65 miles per hour on the freeway when my truck violently shake back and forth so hard I had to come to a complete stop to get it to stop. I've had the front suspension replaced 3 times in the past year and still have what they call a death wobble. I have spent so much money on rentals and on shop repairs trying to repair this problem and still cannot go over 40 miles an hour without it violently shaking. This is dangerous to my family it could kill somebody and I think Dodge should be responsible for taking action on repairing this or figure out the problem . I have called Dodge and they have told me it is not a recall so they cannot help me out. I had bought brand new tires a brand new drive line along with replacing the front suspension 3 times now and I still cannot drive my truck without it causing violent shaking. It has 87,000 miles on it has never been in an accident so I cannot figure out why this started happening but I think that it should not be okay to have this truck on the road it's going to hurt somebody. I have only driven a couple of times and spent alot on rentals . I will never in my life buy another Dodge due to lack of concern for my family's saftey. I own this vehicle outright and wish I would have never bought it. Thats how scary it is to drive.

10 Wheel problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 04/15/2017

My front left tie rod in my truck broke causing extensive damage. It punctured a tire in the sidewalk which is not repairable , cracked a wheel which they do not make anymore so need to replace 4 to match and bent or broke every single component in the steering linkage setup. I have made numerous attempts for some help and have gotten none. I have sent multiple emails with no replies, tried the chat system on the mopar site and the person (alex av1129 employee number) was if no help either. I have purchased a steering linkage setup from les schwab for $649 before I knew this was a past recall issue. I never got any notification for the recall or did I get offered the buyback option. I also called mccord Dodge in longview washington explaining my issue and was told by a lavonya in the recall dept there's nothing she can do this is an issue between you and Chrysler not you and mccords. I also asked lavonya my address on file and she read it exactly and I received no notification from them either. She was quite rude. She told me most people do routine maintenance at mccords and they find out these issues. I let her know I do my own maintenance and am not required to do business with them since my warranty has expired please help thanks kirc mattinen 22528 nelson hill ln clatskanie or 97016 (503)728-9396 kircmattinen@gmail. Vehicle has been taken care of, wheel rims are rusting tire dealers will not install tires on these rims. Contacted Chrysler corporation, spoke with ashly, employee number aw898, who said Chrysler corporation will not do anything about this problem. I believe that this is a highway safety problem.

12 Wheel problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 09/20/2016

2005 Ram 2500 4x4. Kmc xd rockstar rims (10"), 12. 5 nitto terra grappler tires. I've had the xd rims for 2 1/2 years, no problems, all hiway miles, no off-roading. Sitting in driveway for 3 days, I noticed a flat tire, after airing up to 50 psi as described on door jam, I sprayed down with soapy water looking for leak, huge bubble occurred on the base of the rim, cleaned the area and found a 3/4" crack leaking air. Kmc will evaluate the rim for warranty. I've since read many stories of the same wheel having cracks.

13 Wheel problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 08/29/2016

On August 29, 2016 I was driving my 2004 Dodge truck on a highway when my front driver side tire suffered a complete tread separation. It seemed to just explode. There were no injuries, but a damage report was filled out by the highway patrol. This was a michelin ltx a/t2 tire with about 40,000 miles on it. The tires are 5 years old. These tires are warrantied for 60,000 miles or 6 years. After 20,000 miles I had one of the tires replaced because it looked like it might separate, but the others seemed alright at that time. I have probably $2000 or more worth of damage to my truck. It knocked the headlight out, ripped off the running board, tore out the inner fender, bent the fender and put a dent in the bottom of my door. I have always bought michelin, but will never use them again.

14 Wheel problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

16 Wheel problem of the 1999 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 10/29/2015

Both front tires are exhibiting bubbled sidewalls on the lt235/85r16 tires suggesting early stages of tread separation from carcass. Driver's side looks to be out of round as well. Lot numbers are identical elw0408. No accident as yet, but appearance is worrisome based on listed failures in in the NHTSA database. After the recent reports on the poor tracking of tire failures and lack of accountability, I believe this report is relevant and pertinent to public safety.

17 Wheel problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 10/22/2015

The way these rims are designed are very poor. Water gets trapped inside the rim rots them out. I was driving down the street when all in a sudden, the part of the rim that has the 8 holes where you would bolt the rim to the vehicle completely separated from the drum part of the rim, the tire went flat, and vehicle stopped. And to even get to the actual lug nuts, I had to destroy the chrome face to get to them because they shifted when the rim separated from 8 bolt pattern. This is a huge safety concern, I consider myself lucky I didn't cause myself or anybody else on the road any harm or even death. After seeing that, I replaced all 4 rims and tires, a $1500 bill I wasn't planning on but got to be safe for my sake and everyone else on the road.

18 Wheel problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/13/2015

While driving down the expressway in chicago in heavy, high speed traffic, the vehicle drove through a small pothole, which caused the vehicle to shake \ wobble violently from the front end and cause impossible steering. The only way to stop this shaking \ wobble was to immediately slow down to below 20 mph crossing 2 lanes of traffic into the soft shoulder. It has been replicated multiple times from speeds of 40 mph and up. After taking this vehicle, a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab, 5. 7 engine, stock with all current recalls up to date (except the air bag recall which no one has parts for), to multiple repair shops and Dodge dealerships, no exact caused has been located including fca (Dodge) stating there is no issue. Thousands of dollars have been spent on this in the last 3 weeks to solve the problem as it cannot be resolved yet. This is a widely known about issue in these vehicles, commonly refereed to as the "Dodge death wobble" as I have found out. Fca and NHTSA need to do something to resolve this major issue.

19 Wheel problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/08/2015

We noticed for the past month that our tires were wearing on the outside of both front tires. We took the truck to 3 different les schwab tire businesses (weiser, idaho, emmett, idaho and ontario, oregon) and all 3 businesses told us that there was nothing wrong with the tires. Driving at 25 mph last month, (July 8, 2015), we encountered a steering problem. The truck was wanting to turn at it's leisure while pointing in a straight direction. The steering was sloppy, would not self center, would drift to the left and right and not correct. Approximately 15 minutes after this happened, we had a blow out on the passenger front. What was left of the tire and the driver's side was completely worn and "rough" looking. There was no way to change the tire as the wheel itself was "bowed" in. We had it towed to steve's hometown motors in weiser, idaho and they couldn't tell us what happened, but that the whole front end parts needed to be replaced, I. E. , $2871. 98 in parts and labor. They could not tell us what happened or why we needed these parts. They found that the adjuster bar was loose and all the front end needed all new parts. We did take it in for all the "recalls" on the front end and now fiat/Chrysler is offering to "buy back" these vehicles that weren't fixed. Our question is, can we be reimbursed for these repair costs due to these "faulty front end steering repair recalls". We believe that we are one of the customers that had the recalls done, but either incorrectly or with faulty recall parts.

20 Wheel problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/15/2015

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. While driving approximately 65 mph, the front driver side wheel made an abnormal noise while driving over a bump. In addition, the vehicle shook violently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

21 Wheel problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 03/07/2015

I was driving at about 65mph and suddenly the truck and steering began vibrating and shaking violently until I pulled over and stopped. It felt like all four tires had blown out. I called my local Dodge dealer service department and they told me the problem was most likely the "death wobble". I had never heard this and he also said to change the steering dampener, which I did. This violent vibration has happened again on two other occasions since the stablizer shock was replaced. I will not drive on the highway any longer with my truck due to this serious safety/sterring/suspension issue that very easily could cause serious bodily harm/death due to possible accident.

22 Wheel problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 03/02/2015

Drivng home I hit a pot hole at 65 miles an hour when the trucks front end started shaking violently. I had to slow down to about 35 miles an hour to get control. Its been a regular occurence ever since. I have taken it to the dealership and they say nothing is wrong. I have researched and spent over $1000. 00 on parts. Apparently it is a common problem with Dodge known as the "death wobble" that Dodge fails to acknowledge or take responsibility for.

23 Wheel problem of the 2015 Dodge Ram 2500

To high factory tire pressure affects vehicle stability inclement weather. 80 psi is to much pressure in an unladen pickup truck. Skidding. . .

24 Wheel problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 12/20/2014

This is the 4th time we have had to go back to dealership and them turn us away by doing a visual inspection stating there was nothing wrong with the truck, however we cannot get an alignment because sway bar, track bar, and tie rods all needed to be repaired. Took truck back again after there was so much pooping noise and vibration from the front end that I could not take it anymore. Outer tie rods were done, and found out the track bar was cracked so a new one replaced the original one yet no record was completed of this with the dealership, only that they tightened the track bar. I am so fed up with the dealerships and Chrysler with all of this nonesense, it is really going to come down to us completely having a bad accident or something to this extent before something is done, and we stop having to pay for all the repairs to a faulty front end. Driving down the rod feeling the vibrations is very scary, and not knowing if the tires are going to come off.

25 Wheel problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 09/27/2014

Tpms valve stem failed causing a flat tire. The tire valve itself completely came apart while driving highway speeds. Indicator light came on, but so what , it was caused by its own flawed design. Upon inspection of the other tire valves, it is discovered that they are all cracked and ready to fail as well and need expensive replacement. This is unexceptable. . A "safety system" that is poorly constructed, dangerous, and required by law to be installed in vehicles. A recall must be mandated.

26 Wheel problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

Tpms does not allow setting tire pressures to the recommended tire setting from the tire manufacturer without triggering warning light and nag screen on startup. Constant warning light and nag screen correction will lead to driver complacency, negating the purpose of tpms alerting the driver to a potential problem with the tires. Tpms required over inflation results in potential loss of vehicle control due to loss of traction. Abnormal tire wear due to tire over inflation increases risk of hydroplaning and loss of control of vehicle. Ram customer service has been contacted and confirmed that this problem is systemic, by design, and can not be corrected at present time. Potential fix is to reprogram bcm, allowing dealers to reset tpms to appropriate setting for tires and actual load with appropriate documentation.

28 Wheel problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/07/2014

I had taken my truck to get it serviced because the steering felt off and when I would go to stop it sounded like metal shaking. When I got to the dealership they said the left tie rod was cracked and the steering linkage was just hanging there about to fall off. There had been a recall on it before I had purchased the truck so I called Chrysler group and they informed me that it was deemed that the truck didn't have the "specific recalled" part. So I had to pay out of pocket around $3,000 to fix a problem that there was a recall on. The exact same problem listed in the recall, "because the left tie rod ball stud may fracture. " is exactly what happened to mine. I was told by Chrysler group that since my truck had been checked for the specific part by the previous owner and it wasn't part of the recall they wouldn't cover it. They did say to keep all my reciepts in case there is a future recall on that specific part.

29 Wheel problem of the 2011 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/06/2014

August 2013 we bought aftermarket wheels for our 2011 Dodge Ram 2500. July 6, 2014 while washing truck, we noticed six (6) lug nuts and stems/bolt missing. Two missing on rear tire and two missing on both front tires. Contact our tire company to get the problem repaired and he stated that Chrysler has that part, the lug nut bolts/stems, is on a nationwide back order and did not have an estimate to when they would be available. Now, I don't feel safe driving a truck with 6 lug nuts missing and cannot get it repaired. Also, when I get it repaired, will it happen again? probably, that's why the part is on back order.

30 Wheel problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/09/2014

I was driving west in road TX-375-loop heading the i10, I took an exit for i10 east wich is a bridge. I took it and then I heared a sound on the rear wheels so I slowed down, after that the sound stopped and I continued to incorporate to i10-east. After I took the i10 I was driving around 60 mph when suddenly I heard the sound again but this time after a few second a different sound appeared and the rear wheels stopped resulting in completely lost of control. My vehicle started to go with no direction and than took me out of the highway, once I was on the side of the road the vehicle make a 180 degrees turn and I stopped heading wrong way. I was so lucky because there were some traffic signs and I didnt crash any of them and also because even though that highway is always full with traffic I didnt crash with any other vehicle. Once I took a look of my truck I saw that the driveshaft was separated from the rear axel. I didnt filled a claim before beacuse Chrysler told me they were going to fix it since that incident happened because of a recall they didnt fix before. The recall number is m34 and its been 3 months and after I could have died in that accident they havent helped me at all. My vehicle is still in the dealer and Chrysler wont authorize to fix it.

31 Wheel problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 05/23/2014

I was driving my Dodge Ram 2500 and hit a series of small bumps and my front end began to shake violently. This has happend several times and no one can seem to find a problem with my suspension at all. I have tried different tires and that doesnt fix the problem either.

32 Wheel problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 05/07/2014

The tire pressure sensor will not go off and keeps blinking "low tire pressure. I have made seven attempts to get this resolved. I was told by the dealer I bought the truck from last night that there is no more he can do. They over inflated the tires to 80 psi to make the sensor go off but the tires are only rated for 65psi max. This over inflation had voided the tire warranty from the tire manufacturer. This could also result in a tire blow out and accident which could cause death to me, my family or passengers. I need to know how to get this problem resolved before anyone gets hut or killed.

33 Wheel problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 03/04/2014

Ran over a pothole at 65 mph and the front end violently shook. Had to apply the brakes and slow down to 50 mph in order to gain control. Took it into national tire and battery and $1700 later, I still have the problem. Semi truck behind me almost ran over me. Violently shakes. Very scary.

34 Wheel problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 02/20/2014

The left tie rod broke driving down the road causing a hole in my rim, dents in the fender and bumper and damage to the left braking system. I had the vehicle towed to the dealer after learning about this recall, the dealer fixed the broken tie rod but Dodge will not cover any damage left on my truck. It needs a new rim and Dodge stated that they will now be paying for my rim to get fixed, which was fine before this incident. Thank you, mike.

35 Wheel problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 01/08/2014

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, a loud noise emitted from the rear end of the vehicle.
