Hit a bump in the road and truck went into a death wobble. . . Had to come to a complete stop to gain control again. It has happened three more times since then. I found a kit on the internet to strengthen the steering gear box and the tie rods but am about ready to be done with Dodge. I only drive the truck now at 55 or below and won't let anyone ride with me. This is a real and persistent danger to myself and the people on the road with me. I am a fairly strong man (farmer and cattleman) and I could not control the truck. I paid a lot of money for this truck to haul my cattle and the dealer does not acknowledge any problem. Sorry for the anger but if this, and it does, endanger me my family or the other folks on the road I get really mad. Especially when the dealer says there is no problem. . . I'm going back in tomorrow and ask the owner of the dealership to drive it and then tell me that there is no problem. Again, I apologize for the rant but I am a totally disabled vietnam vet and this really pisses me off. . .
There is some kind of front-end vibration or wobble that starts at about 40 mph through 44 mph. I can't detect it above that speed. It can be felt through the steering wheel. I have had the tires balanced and rebalanced. The vibration is not affected, and remains the same. I have read of a recall that addresses front-end steering problems regarding the left-front tie rod ball joint . I can't find if this applies to the condition on my truck, but it may be possible. I just want to go on record that this truck has a vibration condition in the front end that at this time is not diagnosed.
After having the entire front end and steering to include axels and bearings replaced, once. Tie rods under recall, twice, replaced tie rods on own, twice, all 4 ball joints replaced 3 times, I experienced a violent front end shake on 20 Dec 2014 doing 50-55 mph on the high way. The latest recall was for the left outer tie rod, replaced in Feb 2014. Towed my truck and found the left outer tie rod to be defective yet again! all the numerous front end repairs have taken place between March 2009 - present date as the truck is in the shop yet again for a several hundred dollar repair!.
I received recall notice from Chrysler in janurary 2014 n62 / NHTSA 13v-528. The replacement left tie rods were recalled due to the fact that the replacements were defictive. It has been over six months since the tie rods replacements were recalled. Dealer will not schedule a inspection unitl the replacements for the replacements are received. What is the hold up??? Chrysler is making record profits.

2005 Dodge Ram 3500. Consumer writes in regards to the tie rod ball stud recall and requests reimbursement for repairs. The consumer stated when he rounded a corner to the right, the left wheel buckled under the front end causing him to lose control and skidded to an abrupt stop.
Driving along a smooth recently paved road with no bumps. In left lane driving and suddenly lose control of steering. The vehicle shakes violently and begins to veer to the left and steering is beyond my control. The vehicle goes over the median and crosses both oncoming lanes of traffic. Applying the brakes, the vehicle comes to a stop barely a foot before a concrete wall, coming to rest perpendicularly with the bed of the truck blocking the entire right oncoming lane. There was no warning to this happening. No rattling or otherwise to allow me to pull over and inspect the vehicle. This was sudden, and extremely dangerous. Considerations are what if this had happened at 50-60 mph on the highway? what if it had happened with oncoming traffic? what if there were pedestrians present? after inspection, it was determined that the ball joint and socket had worn to such a degree that the ball just slipped out while driving. So far great effort by the dealership and Chrysler has been made to attempt to convince me that this is a natural occurrence and that there was nothing unusual about this happening. Also, they will not assume the cost for making the tie rod ends road-worthy again, which to them is $1,200. No warning signs. Is it the customer's responsibility to pay for not only an entirely new steering kit but any damages that may have come from the "natural accident" of the tie rod end suddenly and irreversibly popping out of its socket? since when has it been acceptable for a vehicle to be declared road-worthy and yet the sudden and unannounced failing of steering to come with no warnings? on Dodge's flagship heavy-duty truck no less. The customer should be responsible for normal wear and tear, but I contend that this is by no means normal and Dodge should cover me for the cost of putting in a safe steering linkage.
While traveling at about 35 mph, I felt the right side shake. At first I thought I had tire failure but notice I could not control the vehicle as the steering locked up. When applying the brakes the vehicle veered to the left and came to rest on the left side shoulder of the road. The tie rod seperated were the ball came out of the joint. The tie rod end wedge against the tire causing the locked up steering. The road was wet and when applying the brakes caused the left tire to lock up which made the vehicle veered to the left. This vehicle had current recalls up to date.

He crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic, without incident and was able to make it to the other side of the road. A year later, the vehicle was taken to the repair shop for steering problems again. As the consumer and her husband were traveling, the truck began to shake and her husband could barely control the vehicle.
My 2005 Dodge 3500 laramie dually - diesel truck. The tie rod ball stud fractured/tie rod assembly failed on my vehicle when I was backing up out of a parking space and made a tight turn to the left and then as I attempted to straighten my wheels no longer had any steering. If this would have happened 5 minutes later I would have been on a major freeway and crashed at 55-60 mph due to loss of steering. Dodge in bellevue washington is refusing to have Chrysler pay the recall repair. They tried to tell Chrysler that this was a maintenance issue. I disagree. It is plastered all over the internet that this is a common problem. 2003-2011 Dodge ram 2500/3500 vehicles. I do not believe that Chrysler has reached out to their customers with recall notices to protect their customer's driving safety. Myself and others I know in the equestrian community have not received recall notices for their vehicles which qualify under the recall years. Someone needs to make Chrysler responsible for correcting these problems and not holding individuals accountable for the repair expense. This not only effects individual's driving safety; but horses that could be hauled behind the 2500/3500 models and this failure occurring. I hope that a major fatality effecting humans and animals does not have to happen in order for an immediate correction and accountability of Chrysler.

I just purchased a Dodge Ram 3500 4wd drw, from a dealership 200 miles away. On the way home I drove over a bridge on the highway and the truck went into a violent shake that was close to being uncontrollable. It did it 2 more times that night. Everytime I drive over 55mph and hit a bump it sets what is called the death wobble off. I have replaced steering stabilizer with a larger one, new track bar bushings, outer tie rod end, had the wheels and tires checked and balanced, and an alignment done. It has been to the Dodge dealership, a big truck alignment shop, and a 4wheel drive shop. All of them said it checks out good but they know there is a problem. Everyone who has drove it comes back scared! this is a vehicle that could really cause a bad accident if not controlled or fixed. The dealers are aware of this problem and say it is a design flaw. Dodge needs to recall this problem before someone is injured or killed.
