The contact own a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact stated that the power steering was leaking. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the linkage needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 122,000. The dealer inspected the vehicle, and informed the consumer, the steering linkage on his vehicle, was not on the safety recall list. The consumer strongly believed the original steering linkage on his vehicle was faulty and should be investigated for replacement. There is a leak at the pump which has caused damage to the left ball joint. Updated 07/28/14.
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 diesel. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the power steering assist malfunctioned and the front end of the vehicle started to shake violently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure but proceeded to flush the power steering pump as a temporary remedy. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 74,000 and the current mileage was 79,000.
