Two problems related to steering failed have been reported for the 2011 Dodge Ram 3500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact stated that the steering wheel would seize when driving at various speeds. The contact later received notification of NHTSA campaign id number: 13v529000 (steering) but was advised that the parts were not available to complete the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair to be performed. The contact was no longer able to drive the vehicle due to the recurring steering failure. The failure and current mileage was 56,000.
I have received a recall for my truck n49/NHTSA 13v-529 relating to the steering failure. I was mailed this recall in December of 2013 and in January 2014 made an appointment to have the problem fixed. I have now been told that the parts required are being held back and only shipped to each dealer 1 part every 7 days. I am presently #12 on my dealers list. This means that my truck will be on-safe to drive for the next 12 weeks not counting the time prior. This is unacceptable, especially now finding that Chrysler was aware of the problem even before I purchased it. I need my truck this isn't a wish it's a fact! I have called the Chrysler group recall assistance center and have been issued a case number. Steering failure could result in death not only to the occupants of the vehicle but other vehicle on the road. This is serious and needs to be addressed immediately. Presently I am having the vehicle inspected by my local dealer to insure the defective parts are not on-safe at this time. But there is no assurance that they won't be in the future.
