2011 Dodge Ram 3500. Consumer writes in regards to the left tie rod ball stud recall repairs issue. The dealer informed the consumer, it would take a week for them to get to his vehicle, as they only get parts in occasionally, due to a back log. Another dealer, informed the consumer, they could have the vehicle ready in one day. However, they were over seven hours away.
Left tie rod snapped causing complete loss of control. The shock absorber that is bolted to the gear box control rod from the right tie rod to the left was busted causing oil to leak out. This occurred while I was reversing into my driveway going a very slow speed. I was just at the Dodge dealership today in regards this recall on a recall and the associates at the Dodge dealership located in beeville texas adviced me to bring my vehicle back in two to three months because there were others ahead.
2011 Dodge Ram 3500. Consumer writes in regards to the left tie rod ball stud recall notice. The consumer was notified of a recall at the end of December. He contacted the dealer about the notice. At that time, he was informed he would be placed on waiting list, because they were only receiving one repair kit per week, per dealer. Recall# 13v529000.
I received a recall in the mail stating that the vehicle needed to be inspected, and that a failure could result in loss of control and crashing. Made appointment to have vehicle inspected. Vehicle was inspected and found that the left tie rod end needs to be replaced. The dealership informed us that the part was not available and was on "intergalactic backorder. " I contacted Chrysler and asked about a timeline and they stated that the arrival date of the replacement parts was uncertain. I asked if the vehicle was safe to drive since the tie rod is such an important part of the steering assembly and I was told that it was up to the discretion of the driver. I asked about them providing a loaner vehicle, beings that it is a safety concern and our family's primary vehicle, their reply was that they couldn't do that. I feel that it is a safety concern for my family and I, and that it is the responsibility of the Chrysler company to repair the vehicle that I purchased from them, or provide a safe and comparable vehicle until the repairs can be made.
2011 Dodge 3500. Consumer writes in regards to left tie rod end recall issues. The consumer stated the left tie rod end broke on March 14, 2014. Fortunately, he was in a parking lot and not on the highway. He called 2 different dealerships, where he was informed, the parts were not available. The consumer was able to find an after market tie rod, and had it installed.
I have been on the repair list at the dealership in bryan, TX since March 7, 2014 to have the left tie rod replaced. When I called them today to see where I was on the list I am #158. The dealerships are only getting repair kits as they complete repairs. They cannot order the kit as a customer asks for the repair. This is a very dangerous issue. This truck is used to haul cattle - loss of control of the vehicle could be fatal. Dodge ram is seriously behind in providing parts to fix their recall issues.
I contacted diehl automotive concerning the recall (n49/NHTSA 13v-529) the left tie rod ball stud on this truck may fracture under certain driving conditions. This would cause a loss of directional control and/or crash without warning. The service man said that he could only get the parts from Dodge at a rate of (1) per week. That means that I will have to go approximately one year before I get this repaired. This sounds like another gm screw up where it will take some lives before the highway safety administration is going to do something. It's now time to expose you all once again to the news media. Why would I have thought anything else from a government organization.
2011 Dodge Ram 3500. Consumer writes in regards to tie rod ball stud recall notice issues. The dealer informed the consumer, they were only getting one part, per week.
Received the n49/NHTSA 13v-529 recall notice from Chrysler sometime in Jan. 2014. I took the truck to the dealership on Feb. 17, 2014. I was told there was a limited supply of the replacement part(s) and they would have to put my name on a list, then they would contact me when the part was available and my name was next in line for the repair. In July 2014, I received a duplicate notice from Chrysler. I called the dealer today (Aug. 21, 2014) to find out if I was still on the list. My name is approx. 87 on the list remaining and they were only able to do 2 repairs a day, in part because their building is under construction for an expansion. I believe waiting over 6 months for a repair that could be potentially dangerous is unreasonable. In one week, 8/28/2014, I have planned (for several months) to go on a camping trip, with my trailer camper, and staying in a remote campground with no cell phone service. I will need to back into the camping space which usually has tight spaces to maneuver (the conditions when the tie rod is most likely to break). The person I talked to at the dealership told me that if the tie rod broke I would be moved to the top of the list, which was not comforting!.
We received a recall notice from Chrysler that our truck was recalled and needed a new tie rod to ensure safety. However, our Chrysler dealer says that they are allowed to order only one of these necessary replacement parts a week. So since we were the 20th callers for this recall, we must wait about 5 months for this problem to be fixed! that is unacceptable for a potentially dangerous tie rod break!.
Chrysler issued a recall notice in the middle of December 2013. We where instructed not to call until January 6, 2014. I called on the 8th and was informed that no parts where available. I called again today and was told the same thing by my local dealership and Chrysler. On the notice it states " the left tie rod ball stud on your truck may fracture under certain driving conditions. This may cause loss of directional control and/or crash without warning. " we use our vehicle everyday and also tow our race car trailer with it. I feel it is completely unacceptable that there is no parts available if Chrysler issued the recall. I do not want to chance injuring myself or my family, or someone else on the road due to the carelessness of Chrysler. I just want this changed before anything happens. This needs to be resolved and it doesn't appear that is happening anytime soon.
Chrysler has recalled tie rod ball stud (n49/ NHTSA 13v-529) indicating my vehicle may crash without warning. Chrysler has not supplied the parts to fix the problem. Contact with Chrysler has told me that no parts are available and no expected time as to when the parts will be available. This is unsatisfactory. The NHTSA must ensure that Chrysler corp. Is held responsible for its product. It has been two months since I have attempted to remedy the problem with no help from Chrysler. Meanwhile, thousands of heavy duty trucks hauling thousands of pounds of cargo continue to operate on higways with the possibility of crashing as indicated by Chrysler. This is unsatisfactory as Chrysler is putting thousands of lives in danger by not fixing the problem they have identified. The nhsta, if not fixing the problem, is also contributing to the issue.
I was moving my truck in my driveway and as I turned my steering wheel to position the vehicle where I wanted to go the left tie rod ball stud completely broke which left me unable to steer the vehicle. This is the second time this has happened to this vehicle since it was purchased new.

Backing truck in garage, steering tie rod broke cleanly off, lost all steering. No damage (other then broken parts). This is a known issue at Dodge / ram but there is no recall issued covering all 4x4 truck (4x2 does not have this issue). Reading on forums (cumminsforum. Com) and found out this is a issue that is fairly common but can creates very dangerous situations if happens at higher speeds. Truck is completely stock and goes to dealer for service every 6k miles.

On 3/22/2012 the same left tie was again replaced. This is unacceptable. We are concerned and believe the tie rod components are under engineered . The threaded end of the tie rod ball joint I simply to small. We have had continual other problems with this vehicle including now at 60k mi. A blown engine. 2011 Dodge Ram 3500. Consumer writes in regards to the left tie rod ball stud recall notice. The consumer stated 2 months after owning the vehicle, is when the problems started. The consumer and her husband did not like the way, the vehicle handled and steered. The problem was addressed to the dealer, at which time they were informed it was probably because the truck was a dually and they were not used to driving one and it would take some getting used to. Approximately 2-3 weeks after the visit, the consumer and her husband returned to the dealer to complain about the handling and steering. The dealer performed an alignment. They drove the truck for a few weeks, and they were still unhappy. April 2, 2012, the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle was returned to the dealer. The dealer reprogrammed the ecm. A month after driving the vehicle, the check engine light illuminated again. The dealer replaced the intake manifold heater air temp relay. The dealer then made an adjustment to the steering column. The consumer drove the vehicle for 2 more months, then the tie rod broke on the driver's side . The dealer replaced the outer tie rod end and re-aligned the front end. The consumer continued to complain about the handling and steering. The dealer then discovered the front tires were wearing on the outside front edge. It was determined the check engine light illuminated due to a blocked or incorrect air filter which was replaced and the codes were cleared. The consumers issues with the handling and steering were not resolved. The consumer stated the tie rod broke for a second time. Chrysler determined after the original factory tie rod broke at 15,000, the replacement tie rod end and alignment were done improperly by the dealer. The improper replacement and alignment caused the front tire wear on the outside and the second tie rod to break.

We purchased a brand new truck from a local savannah, georgia dealer in 2011. My husband was driving down the road and a tree fell on his 9 month old truck with only 12,000 miles on it. He had body damage only but the truck was rendered "totaled out" by the insurance company. We paid off the loan with the insurance pay off and then, after negotiations, we bought the truck back from the insurance company. We then had the repairs completed (again, body repairs only). The truck was inspected and given a "salvaged/rebuilt" title. Now. . . Dodge is refusing us any factory engine/powertrain warranty, but more importantly they are refusing (along with the original local dealer) to repair the safety recalls on the vehicle. There are two recalls: (1) left tie rod end and (2) 2011 djd2 6. 7l ecm flush. We are also to believe that the first most severe safety recall was put out before the truck was even in the crash. We have gotten no where with either Dodge or the dealer through several phone calls and speaking with supervisors. Both Dodge and the dealership are refusing to do any safety recall repairs on our vehicle because they say there is a restriction on our title which prevents them from making any repairs. . .
Truck has been recalled 3 times now for the same problem. Steering tie rod broke while driving after the first recall in July 2013. The part got recall again in December of 2013 for the same part. To this day, there is no replacement part, and Chrysler stated there is a danger driving the vehicle. This has been going on since new and I am afraid to drive the truck.
