Cruise Control Problems of Dodge Ram 3500

The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving 75 mph with the cruise control activated, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted and an abnormal noise was heard from the engine. The contact stated that there was smoke coming from the engine and caught on fire. A police/fire report was filed and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure mileage was 127,000.

As I picked up my new 2014 Dodge Ram 3500 6. 4 , I noticed a rattle coming from in or under the dash board . I also noticed my cruise control would not work and traction light stayed on . The rattle only occurs when I am stepping on the gas and going over rough roads , I let off the gas and the rattle stops . I took it to my dealer ( dick poe Dodge , el paso , TX. ) and they found nothing with the rattle , they fixed the other issues . They heard the rattle but said they could not pin point it , they felt it might be the throttle pedal it self , but Dodge would not let them swap it out unless they were 100% sure that was the issue . So here I am still driving with the rattle . I did offer to pay for the part and my adviser said he would not allow that only cause he was not 100% sure it would fix the issue . Understand the service dept did all they could to help me , it was Dodge that tied their hands .

The vehicle failed to slow down even though the brake pedal was depressed repeatedly. The engine was turned off in order to stop. The failure recurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis and they were unable to locate the problem. The technician disabled the cruise control and the failure persisted. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 128,800.

Cruise control cable (twisted fine wire) become frayed, causing cable to become jammed in housing, causing the cruise control to not go off when brake was applied.

While driving could set up cruise control at speed, but it will suddenly accelerate to a point that consumer has to control vehicle. Dealer had been contacted ,and problem could not be fixed. Please provide more infomation.

While driving at about 45 mph vehicle will go into cruise control without consumer even touching the cruise control switch. Consumer says when this happens, car takes off like a jet going about 65 mph. Consumer feels this is very unsafe, could cause an accident because of so many curves in the road.

When cruise control is engaged it increases up to 10 miles more than what it has been set for. Several miles after the speed increase the truck speed slowly comes down to the set speed. Trouble occurs at temp under 90 degrees. Dealer has been contacted.
