36 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 07/09/2014

I have had an ongoing problem with throttle response since new. There is a 1-2 second lag when attempting to enter traffic and when trying to pass another vehicle. This problem affects numerous aison equipped transmissions in the Dodge diesel trucks and many owners are having the same problem with no resolution offered from the dealerships or Chrysler corp. It is very dangerous because you are attempting to accelerate with safety but have to account for a lag in performance. It also does not occur on all trucks so equipped and vehicles equipped with the aison prior to 2014. I have found it necessary to abort my attempt to enter traffic due to this lag in response and was nearly hit from the rear because another stopped vehicle thought I was leaving my position. Hopefully this problem can be resolved with a computer reflash but so far, Chrysler is not interested in a fix.

37 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

When letting off the gas petal and then pressing again, (like merging or a rolling stop) there is a lag of 1-2 seconds. Very dangerous when pulling out in traffic. Ram says that is normal. This need to be investigated. Thanks.

38 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 06/25/2014

This truck has been under recall for a long time now and everytime we have tried to take it to the dealer we are told that the parts are not available yet. This truck is a response/command vehicle for our fire protection district and is driven by the fire chief. How much longer do we have to wait. Chrysler said they would contact us again by mail, with a follow-up recall notice, when the remedy part is available. Will it ever be ready? recall # p65 / NHTSA 14v - 635.

39 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 11/13/2013

I was towing a 5th wheel and the check eng. Light come on and the truck stalled whent from 60mph. To 30 mph. I stoped for the night in the morring I got it to holiday Dodge in austin mn. And was told the a code of p0087 was on and it was a low fuel rail perssure. But the part need was on back order and no Dodge shope had one it would take 4 to 6 weeks to get one. After this repair was done it has been into Dodge 8 time for the same thing and has cost me a lot. But I stell don't have a sefe truck. Its not safe do to the truck runing at 60mph then droping to 30mph or not runing at all. Towing a trailer and the eng. Stops on the interstate trying to get the truck and trailer off the highway with no power is not safe.

40 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 10/24/2013

This vehicle has been maintained according to the manual perfectly and in most cases maintenance done before required. On the date above I was driving home and the vehicle lost power. Since I was 2 hours from home I had to have it towed to the local dealer. Their repair order indicates that all 6 injectors, the dpf, crankcase breather filter, thermostat, ox sensor and 2 temp sensors must be replaced. In addition, the entire fuel system needs to be cleaned out including all filters, air and fuel and oil changed and filter. The bottom line is that all this work will cost me $7500. This truck has too little mileage to need all this work. This was supposed to be the last truck I would own figuring the cummins engine's reputation. Interested in whether this truck is an aberration or is it similar to trucks with the first clean burning engine?.

41 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 10/16/2013

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact stated that the odor of diesel fuel was present inside the vehicle. The contact indicated that the odor was present when the weather temperature was below 50 degrees. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who could not diagnose the defect. The contact also indicated that while driving and releasing the throttle, the vehicle would continue to accelerate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Additionally, the transmission became stuck in 4th gear and the vehicle would not accelerate over 5 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but he was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of all failures. The failure mileage was 6000.

42 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 10/16/2013

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, she smelled an extremely strong odor of diesel fuel inside of the vehicle intermittently. The failure recurred only when the fresh air control setting was activated. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer twice however, they were unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was notified of the detect. The approximate failure mileage was 6,000.

43 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 10/09/2013

My truck has been plagued with a terrible delay in throttle response. When trying to merge into traffic there is a severe delay between imputing throttle and the truck actually accelerating. It's almost like the truck takes 3-6 seconds to realize throttle input. This has become very dangerous when attempting to merge or turn across traffic. I have taken my truck into the dealership but there is nothing available to rectify this. I am clearly not alone on this, many of us having been having lengthy discussions on the forums in hopes of a fix.

44 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 08/29/2013

The truck has what I describe as a "dead pedal". I was merging into traffic and let off the throttle in an evasive maneuver, but realized I need to accelerate quickly to avoid being hit. I pushed to accelerator to the floor, and there was a 2-3 second delay before the engine began accelerating. I avoided being hit only due to evasive steering. This situation is very dangerous. I have verified this condtion in a controlled situation, and can replicate the problem each and every time.

45 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 07/05/2013

Randomly, while attempting to avoid hazards and/or collisions and while merging onto motorway, gas pedal becomes unresponsive for up to 5 seconds. This usually happens from a dead stop; however, has occurred while traveling at highway speeds also.

46 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 07/05/2013

I pull a light weight 40' gooseneck trailer, and while driving I noticed the fuel mileage dropped tremendously and the coolant temp stayed around 220deg and I noticed a horrible loss of power which would not let me drive any faster than around 40-45mph! I took it to the dealership and they performed a boost test on the turbo and said that it's supposed to produce 32 pounds of boost but mine was only producing 26 pounds of boost, and then I was informed they could not justify replacing the turbo because it has not thrown a code on the instrument panel, well if you tell me it's supposed to produce one number and it's doing another then I believe that's enough justification to replace the part beings I paid $50,000 for a brand new truck! the loss of power causes traffic back-ups even if I'm in the slow lane! the temp out of the exhaust reaches 800deg's and melts my mudflap and has caused it to start smoldering after I come to a complete stop! I was later informed about the "re-gen" process and was told it would kick in and out of "re-gen" but I don't believe mine has came out of re-gen beings I'm still getting 5mph with or without a trailer! the engine light and abs light comes on numerous times a day an then go off and now the engine light stays on all the time! this is a brand new Dodge 3500 6. 7l turbo diesel 4x4.

47 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 02/09/2013

Driving home from a trip at 65mph #4 injector line breaks covers complete truck with diesel. I contacted Dodge with safety concern they say they didn't know about the problem and would take it into consideration for future products. This is problem will kill people now if they are not informed of the problems with there truck and they catch on fire. Dodge and cummings has changed the way the replacement fuel lines are made to stop them from breaking but won't let people know ahead of time that there's could break . There is listing after listing in the internet about this problem and Dodge can't keep up with the amount of replacement lines.

48 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 01/15/2013

On way to work lost power light to see customer service department on. Stalled, restarted, stalled, called tow trk. Has particulate filter replace @ $2600. 00 now 4 months back to dealership for same problem.

49 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 11/22/2012

2006 Ram 3500 with 5. 9 cummins. Nearly the same as all the other reports here. 9pm, major highway, entire family in cars, kids asleep, start smelling raw diesel fumes. Big cloud of mist behind truck, about mile further "check engine" light came on. Nearly made it home, but died suddenly and only place to go was median in 4 lane highway. Huge cloud of steam out of engine compartment smelling like diesel. Several gallons of diesel pumped all over hot engine, exhaust, entire underside of truck, body of truck, highway, major mess. Vehicle just out of warranty. Towed it home after a harrowing ordeal getting a wrecker there and trying to not get hit by cars. Non-dealer mechanic diagnosed what appears to be a very common problem--cracked injector line-- despite only seeing a few complaints here (google "cracked #4 injector line). He agrees, atomized diesel touching a hot turbo could ignite, and we would have had a vehicle fire and become a flaming bomb with the entire family in the car. Dodge and cummins should be ashamed. They have ignored this, and it will take a death or serious injury before they get sued and fix things. Consumers who bailed out Dodge are left hanging with expensive repairs, and their families stranded in the middle of nowhere. Nauseating.

51 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 07/05/2012

Runaway acceleration first time on onramp, hit cruise resume, once the speed hit setpoint - throttle went wide open. Second time 7/5/2012 - not on cruise, doing about 65-70 on highway, passing - then throttle went wide open to 90 in next 3-4 seconds. To stop it - shifted to neutral, engine revved to 3500,pulled over and shut down the engine, waited a minute, restarted, then vehicle immediately returned to redline. Shut down, 5 minutes, on restart, got normal idle ~700rpm. Took to Dodge dealer hw hunter in lancaster California on July 9. They kept the vehicle all of the 9th, 10th and half of the 11th. Their ran diagnostics for 2 1/2 days to duplicate. They said they could do nothing else (ran all possible tests). Drove to alaska from California without incident. Now happened again. 7/24/12 in alaska to stop, [xxx] left car in gear and turned off the engine) and slowed with the brakes (eilson afb) after 1 minute off - restart and redlined. After 5 minutes off, restarted and got normal operation. . Read more...

53 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 09/01/2010

I have the 6. 7 cummins diesel engine. While stopped and with the air conditioning on and while the truck is performing the regeneration process raw fuel and exhaust fumes enter the cab of the truck forcing me to roll my windows down. This has caused me to get lightheaded if I don't roll my window down in time. This happens about once every two weeks to me(each time the above conditions are met). Putting the air conditioning on recirculate will help. However recirculate will not work for the heater or window defroster which further impairs my ability to drive. I spoke to the dealer and they called Dodge. Dodge said that this is normal. This is not normal and is a serious health and safety issue.

54 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 05/04/2010

I own a 2008 3500 diesel megacab dually . I was driving along I-70 in colorado at about the speed of 75-80 mph and had to step on the gas pedal all the way down to get around a semi-truck and as soon as I did this the gas pedal got stuck. I know it wasn't stuck to the floor-mat because I visually saw that it wasn't. I had to slip my shoe off and pull the gas pedal up with my toes due to the shoe not being able to get behind the pedal. By the time I managed to pull the gas pedal back my truck had sped up to about 110-115 mph. . This is the second time that this has happened to me. Previous to this incident about a week and a half earlier this happened to me in denver as I was be driving through the city. I thought it was the floor-mat then, so I ignored the fact that this had happened but this second time around I did look down to see if it was or not the floor-mat and it was not the floor mat. . . . I did not have the cruise control on at either time. . Im going to try to contact Chrysler and the dealer to try and see what they believe it might be. . Odds are they will think I'm imagining things !!.

Power loss occurs at anytime. All the time. Truck slows down to idle speed. Really bad when doing 70 on the interstate. Must shut engine off, press accelerator slowly for 5 times then restart engine. Electronic throttle controller has been replaced 6 times now. They all failed again between 7 and 40 miles. Have not been able to get it repaired.
