Roof of the Sprinter van is leaking water into the interior. Large sections of the sealing material between panels on the exterior roof has become cracked and is pealing up near the rear of the roof. This allows water to leak into the vehicle causing rust at the seams, and elsewhere?.
My service tech started this van and went back into the house to get his cup of coffee. When he came out of the house he found the van on fire under the hood of the drivers side. The van was towed to tomball Dodge. The fire was determined to have started in the left side head light, causing severe damage to the wiring, hood, fender, bumper, mirror, insulation and much more. Dodge has not taken any responsibility and after 4 months being repaired and at a cost of $12,763. 50. I have four other Sprinters in my fleet, and I am very concerned. I think with the numerous electrical problems that Sprinters have had, this was one that they should have taken care of.
Roof around the roof-mounted air conditioner leaks water after a sustained storm. Has been in dealer service three times, and the leak persists. Others with this vehicle have the same issue. . Read more...
The sliding door which is the only egress for passengers in the back of the van will not open. I have had it fixed 4 times and it continuously fails. I have talked to other Sprinter owners and they have the same problem. Should there be an incident that required the quick evacuation of the van by passengers in the rear of the van they could be very seriously harmed. This is a very serious defect that Chrysler will not acknowledge.
