Coolant Leaking problems of the 1996 Dodge Stratus

Three problems related to coolant leaking have been reported for the 1996 Dodge Stratus. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Coolant Leaking problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2002

Discovered a severe oil leak at the head gasket during a routine oil change. The coolant was heavily contaminated with oil as well. Everyone I've spoken to about this says everyone knows it's a problem with Dodge Stratus 4cyl's and neon 4cyl's, but no recall has happened for this. It was recommended that I get rid of the car due to the expense of having to re-repair this regularly because of the bad block/head design. Help!! dt.

2 Coolant Leaking problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2000

Engine head gaskets blew out, causing coolant to leak onto the engine. Dealer has repaired vehicle.

3 Coolant Leaking problem

Failure Date: 10/01/1999

Defective engine head gasket at 58,000 mile, causing engine to ove heat due to water/coolant leakages.
