1 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2001 Dodge Stratus

Failure Date: 08/03/2009

I am the owner of a 2001 Dodge Stratus se with the 2. 7l v6 engine. On February 9, 2006 I took the car to park plaza Dodge in forrest park, IL. Because the engine making a loud tapping sound. At the time the car had 67,441 miles on it and was covered under a Chrysler 5 year/75,000 mile warranty. I was told that the engine had a lot of sludge in it and I was asked to produce maintenance receipts on the vehicle. I change my own oil and I told them that I didn't have the receipts for the oil. I did some research and pointed out to Chrysler and the dealership that this is a known engine problem and the car was still under warranty. After more than a week of stalling Chrysler agreed to replace the engine at their expense less my $100 deductible. It took Chrysler more then two weeks to deliver the new engine to the dealership. The Chrysler extended warranty only included a maximum of two weeks rental for covered repairs. I pointed out to both Chrysler and the dealership that it was not my fault that Chrysler hadn't delivered the engine and they should pay for the additional rental. They refused. The car was returned to me on February 24, 2006. When putting in the new engine the dealership moved all of the extra parts (alternator, fuel injection system, air conditioner compressor, etc. ) to the new engine. I was told that the new engine had a 50,000 mile warranty on it. The new engine has failed with 37,500 miles on it. I can provide addition information but it wouldn't fit in this box.

4 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2001 Dodge Stratus

Failure Date: 04/18/2005

Subsequent to having a recent oil change and engine flush my engine started making a loud clicking sound, while I was driving to work. I pulled over at the nearest gas station and shut the engine off so I could check under the hood. Upon visually inspecting the engine compartment, there was not obvious sign of anything wrong, no leaks etc, I then checked the oil and it was full and clean. I then tried restarting my vehicle and it would not start, just click once then nothing. Subsequently I called a towing company and had my vehicle to the nearest Dodge dealership in my town. I waited four days to hear from them and they never called so finally I had my wife call the dealership and she was told that the engine was blown but before they could do anything I had to authorize them to let someone from Chrysler warranty inspect my vehicle and this would be a $400. 00 fee, which I had to pay. After the alleged inspection the dealership confirmed that the engine was blown due to sludge and that Chrysler warranty would not repair my car, even though I had a 7yr-100,000 mile extended warranty. The mileage on my vehicle at the time the engine was 50,000 miles and any and all attempts to get copies of the alleged inspection were denied not only from the dealership but also from Chrysler warranty. Numerous times I called Chrysler warranty in hopes of getting some results but the reps were rude and had the attitude that ( OH well ) it's your problem. Now it has been six months my car still is not fixed, I still have to make payments on it in addition to extended medical bills for my wife as a direct result of the actions or lack there of by Dodge/Chrysler. In regard to the medical my wife was diagnosed in extreme depression and on the verge of a nervous break down and our family"s emotional life has been in disarray and a financial strain by paying for a vehicle that can't be driven.

5 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2002 Dodge Stratus

Failure Date: 12/01/2004

I bought my 2002 Dodge Stratus in October of 2004. The dealership told me there was still the factory warranty on it but failed to tell me it expired in one week. It was at this one week mark I took my car in for a ticking noise to three different places, two of them Dodge dealers and they told me there was no problem. As the noise got worse, I took the car back to a dealership and they told me my timing chain was going out and could ruin my whole engine at any time. The cost of repair was $800. I had to fight with Chrysler that a car this new should not have this problem before they agreed to pay half. I have also had to recently replace my starter October 2006 after the fuse blowing three times of which I had to have my car towed to a mechanic in addition to paying for repairs. I hate this car!!!!!!.

6 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2003 Dodge Stratus

Failure Date: 07/25/2003

There is a loud popping noise coming from the driver's side wheel. The dealer has attampted to fix the problem atleast 4 times. The last time they tried they attempted to fix all four wheels, even though ii only stated a noise from the drivers side wheel, now the rear wheel pops really loud over pumps and in turns. I contacted the manufacture and so far they have not called me back. In addition to this, I have had to have the air conditioner fixed twice, a new radio put in, since the last time it was in there my emergency flashers dont work, when I first bought the car my head lights didnt work, and the valve cover gasket replaced because it was leaking oil. The valve cover gasket was fixed only for a few days before the same problem of a lack of horsepower returned. And last but not least everytime I drop my car off to the dealer, they keep it for 2-3 weeks at a time. One time they even put 200 miles on my car before they would return it.

7 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2002 Dodge Stratus

Failure Date: 01/07/2003

I am so dissatisfied with my 2002 Dodge Stratus se. Ever since I bought my car in Jan 2003, I have had more problems with this car than any other. My car leaks fluids constantly, my breaks don't work when applied, my car hesitates in all weather circumstances, my windshield makes a crackling noise, my doors squeak along with my trunk lid. Not to mention that I get anywhere from 10-15 miles per gallon for gas. I drive for about 40 min and half of my gas is gone!!! this vehicle is a hazard to the road and anyone or thing it comes in contact with :-( I never recommend my car to anyone and am ashamed to say it's mine. Dodge is definately one dealer that I wil never ever ever buy another car from!!!!!.

8 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 1997 Dodge Stratus

Failure Date: 12/20/2001

The oil leak has been ongoing since I purchased the car and I took it several times to the dealer as well as other mechanics to determine the problem. I was told that it was just the oil pan leaking and not to worry about it. Now I find out that the head gasket needs to be replaced at a cost of over $600. 00. The vehicle isn't even paid for yet. I also had to replace the alternator this past fall. I also had a clunking noise in the front end whenever I turned and after searching the web I find that there was a recall on the ball joint for this year and model. I don't remember getting a notice about that and shouldn't the dealer have thought about that recall notice when I had my car in repeatedly for this problem and they couldn't seem to find out what was wrong? instead they replaced the bearings and tierod ends. I am getting really frustrated with daimler Chrysler over this vehicle. After all the reported complaints just on this website and you know there are more out there, Chrysler should stand behind their products and at a minimum do a 50-50 for replacement of these defective parts. You can bet I won't be buying another chyrsler product.
