2000 Dodge Stratus, had a leakage in the fuel line, in June 2009 and had it repaired, than transmission was going out, needed a new engine, car wouldn't go past 50mph without jerking and still was a gas-hogger, cost more to fix the car so had to have it salvaged couldn't afford the repairs, and my friend also had a Dodge Stratus same year and had the same problem I did and she also had to salvaged her car.

My spark plug just popped out of the socket while I was driving and it stripped the threads, this is the second time this happened to me. The first time I thought that the plug was not installed properly on cylinder #2, this time it happened on cylinder #3. I'm afraid that this could cause an engine fire due to the vehicle still spraying the gas into the cylinder and the spark plug will still fire igniting the fumes.
The exhaust manifold has cracked. Attempts to find a replacement have been difficult. All salvage yards that had one says that theirs is also cracked.

I purchased a 2004 Dodge Stratus on 4/13/04. On 5/22/04 I brought the vehicle to a service center for the first oil change. Upon placing the vehicle on the rack , they discovered that there was widespread severe corrosion to the undercarriage of the vehicle, including tie rods, the exhaust system, etc. . They advised me that they felt that, left uncorrected, the situation presented a safety hazard. I have jpeg images of some of the affected areas that can be sent by e-mail. From what I can see, the vehicle is unsafe to drive.

The check engine/transmission light keeps coming on. I brought it in once they replaced a hose. A few days later it came back on we brought it to a differant shop they reset it and blamed me for it. Stating that I leave my car run when I put gas in it and that is why it comes on. Well the light came back on and we are working on making a 3rd appointment to get it fixed. If its doing all of this now while still under warranty what happens after the warranty!?.

Head gasket has busted. It's leaking fuel all over the exhaust. I took it to the dealer who said it could start a fire. He said it would cost about $800 to fix. It requires me to put a quart of oil in it weekly.
While driving 30 mph oil light on dash came on. Vehicle was taken to dealer, engine oil was all over exhaust. Dealer determined oil galley plug came out. There was a recall but this vehicle was not affected due to VIN.

Vehicle losing over a quart of oil a week. I noticed oil loss a couple of weeks after I purchased the car , but attributed it to normal break in. Now it leaks down on to the exhaust system and may pose a fire hazard. The front brake rotors have been replaced 2 times and are in need of replacement again. They warp in a very short period of time.

Reported a oil leak to dealer and had inspected by them, was told it was a head gasket, informed dealer to go ahead and fix but was told they cannot get parts. Called Chrysler corp. Informed them of trouble and they said they don't have part, they are having vendor problems. Asked when a possible solution would be available, none given. Voiced concern that oil was leaking on hot exhaust, told by them that it wasn't a problem. When I asked for another way to resolve was told there was no other avenues, asked about fileing complaint with you they said they "wouldn't advise it".
While traveling head gasket leaked oil on to exhust resulting in a fire. Independent mechanic pointed out that head gasket leaking oil on to the exhaust pipe was a common problem with that type of engine. But the dealer did not believe the statement.
Vehicle was leaking oil profusely out of the pressure galley hole where oil is delivered to the cylinder head, the oil continued to drip onto the transaxle and exhaust causing a burning smell. Consumer was advised that the gasket has a design flaw, but was redesigned due to so many failures to the gasket.
