Automatic Transmission problems of the 2013 Ford C-max

1 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2022

The contact owns a 2013 Ford C-max. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 22v413000 (power train) however, the parts to do the repair were not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs as the recall notice was received several months ago. The contact stated that while driving a message appeared on the screen indicating an unknown fault. The contact stated that while driving the check engine warning light intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, the mechanic declined to diagnose and advised to take the vehicle to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. VIN tool confirms part not available. The approximate failure mileage was unavailable.

2 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2020

The contact owns a 2013 Ford C-max hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would shut off without warning. Due to the failure, the contact has had the vehicle towed to a dealer on three separate occasions for service. Each time the vehicle was towed to the dealer, the vehicle would resume normal operation upon arrival and the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed for a failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

3 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2015

The contact owns a 2013 Ford C-max. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the transmission inadvertently downshifted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined the rear bearing needed to be replaced.  the dealer replaced the rear bearing; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to sheehy Ford Lincoln of gaithersburg (901 n frederick Ave, gaithersburg, MD 20879) where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact related the failure to technical service bulletin: 14b07. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance since the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 350,000.  .
