We have a recall notice relating to the door latch that may come open while driving and the Ford dealer in longmont, CO says they don't have parts to replace the defective door latch part. We have been waiting for several months now and the Ford dealer doesn't have the parts. We don't feel safe driving the car until this recall can be fixed.

2 Door Latch problem of the 2013 Ford C-max

The contact owns a 2013 Ford C-max hybrid. The contact stated while driving 5 mph, the rear passenger's side door unexpectedly opened. The contact stated that the door ajar warning light was illuminated. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 16v643000 (latches/locks/linkages). Riverside Ford (2089 riverside dr, macon, GA 31204, (478) 464-2900) was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was included in the recall. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

3 Door Latch problem of the 2014 Ford C-max

Failure Date: 05/18/2020

The contact owns a 2014 Ford C-max. The contact stated that while reversing out of a parking space, the passenger's side door unlatched without warning. The contact closed the door however, the door failed to remain securely latched. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the door latch mechanism needed to be replaced. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 16v643000 (latches/locks/linkages) however, the VIN was not included. Grieco Ford of delray beach (3000 s federal hwy, delray beach, FL 33483, (561) 908-5708), was contacted and informed of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,787.

4 Door Latch problem of the 2014 Ford C-max

Failure Date: 11/18/2019

The contact owns a 2014 Ford C-max. The contact stated that while driving in reverse, the back over prevention camera was inoperable. The back over prevention camera displayed the images upside down. The contact stated that the passenger side rear door latch was inoperable and didn't lock. The contact also stated that the hatchback latch did not close without excessive force. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a snapped cable inside the hatch back. The cable needed to be replaced. The contact stated that she previously experienced electrical failure with the electrical system and the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the electrical failure repair was covered under the warranty. The contact stated that the failure with the passenger side rear door and the back over prevention camera had not been diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.
