The car was in reverse. My intention was clearly to back out of a parking stall. However I hit the brake, put the car in park, attempted to get out of the vehicle but the car kept going back, at an accelerated rate. It was as if it was going full speed, in reverse. I couldn't stop it in time before hitting a sidewalk and stair case behind me; as well as side swiping a parked car in the stall to the left of me. My driver door was destroyed because it was opened. The airbags did not deploy.

I have received 3 safety recall notices regarding the door latches, one in January 2017 (recall notice 16s30), one in August 2020 (notice 20s30), and now again in December 2020 (notice 20s30). I have responded twice and supposedly the latches were fixed or replaced by the dealer. Now that I have received the third notice of required dealer inspection, I am very worried that the previous repair had not been done , or had been done incorrectly. Ford will not respond, other than stating I must bring the car to the dealer. This is very concerning from a safety point of view and is time consuming and expensive when missing time from work. They provide a website to check the latch numbers on each door, however, after entering the numbers, the website states that the vehicle must be inspected by the dealer. The representative on the phone said to refer to the website.

The hatchback door will not close properly. It was close, but then not latch. At time, it seems it has closed and latched, and then at odd times, the latch may not hold and will open the hatchback. This has happened repeatedly.

Ford has recalled many cars/trucks for backup camera issues. My car is not part of the recall and has had many issues with the camera which I have mentioned to the dealer. I would like you to included my vehicle in the recall as well. The camera shows a dark screen and then a message appears saying it is not available. I'm attaching the most recent incident which was 10/08/2020 & happened again numerous times. I just don't want to be stuck paying for this "repair". Thank you kindly, barbara d. Johnson.

Warning light with an engine and wrench appeared for 24 hours. Wrench disappeared and then the engine. Dealer insisted the car fixed it self and later claimed their tester show no problem. Dealer was using a generic tester which is not designed for high voltage battery system. hybrid/ev battery balancing circuit stuck reflected on a personal newer model engine tester. This battery is warranted for 100,000 miles. Dealer not using the correct type of engine tester based on the type of battery.

Why does the 2013 cmax energi not have a trunk safety pull? when battery dies you cannot open the trunk to get to the battery in the trunk. This is a serious safety issue that has stranded my car in parking lot at night and now in my garage. I cannot put my car in neutral, because the cmax does not allow you to change to neutral when the battery is dead. Stranded car owner. Needed to get groceries for my parents, so this is the last straw. Under a stay at home order, so do not want to call tow truck, cannot tow out anyways since cannot get it in neutral. I have replaced my battery several times, this shouldn't be happening.
Rear view camera display is upside down. Display was normal when the vehicle was purchased and then one day it flipped upside down and all overlay information disappeared (lines and distance indicators).
My charger isn't always fully charging at home and work. At home my car is parked in the driveway, the outlet is dedicated to the charger. At the top of charger I get the red flashing light and sometimes on the bottom as well.
Electrical gremlins since the first day. Touchscreen went on and off, phone didn't charge, door handles don't work, garage door opener forgot settings, presets on dash would blink out of memory. Ultimately the car didn't even start. But for all of these problems, sometimes they would work, sometimes they wouldn't. Ultimately got the yellow wrench of death. Brought it in repeatedly and they could never reproduce the problem, until the day it wouldn't start at all and the wrench was on the dash. Finally diagnosed open seams on the back hinges to the hatch. Seamseal was missing on both hinges. Water was coming into the junction box which was soaked. The battery was sitting in a pool of water. These problems happened whether it was parked or running.

The liftgate and latch should have been on the recall list and/or listed on the extended warranty but is not currently on the lists. Ford corporate refused to repair the vehicle at their expense and still has not reimbursed me for the expense. The liftgate opened unexpectedly and without warning on a few occasions: 1. The liftgate opened while I was driving on the freeway at 45 miles per hour. 2. The liftgate opened while I was driving on the street at 25 miles per hour. 3. The liftgate opened on December 17, 2019 while I was backing out of a parking space in a parking garage and hit the structure of the parking garage, causing damage to the liftgate. On Friday January 24, 2020 the liftgate ajar warning signal appeared on the console inside the vehicle. When I checked the liftgate it was not open or slightly ajar. This is all hazardous and should be considered a safety issue that needs to be corrected.
Bought the car in may 2017. No problems until October 2019 car didn't crank everything dead. Took it to one dealer and they laughed at me. They replaced the 12v still didn't run. Had it towed to riverside Ford October 2019. They worked on it didn't get the car back until Dec 13, 2109. Paid the bill in full. And drove the car home. Two weeks ago. Dead again. My car is sitting in my yard because I can't afford to take it back to riverside Ford or any other dealer to be fixed. What can I do now?.
Purchased 2013 cmax used from a car dealer with 39,000 miles on it in 2018. Been driving it for 1. 5 years- now has 58,000 miles. . Suddenly warning red triangle appeared with audio alert to stop the car immediately. I was driving on I-95 in the middle lane at 60 mph. Could feel the car had lost power, able to get to breakdown lane and had the car towed-to dealership. They found "nothing wrong. " car returned to me- second incident 3 days later, while turning into shopping center, again, felt the car lose power, red triangle/warning. Stalled in lot- it was a Sunday. Turned the car off- when I turned it back on engine warning light was on . I called the Ford dealership, and spoke to a sales person who told me it was safe to attempt to drive the car- able to drive it home ( slowly)- then to dealers the next day- warning light still on. Dealership unable to find the root cause of the problem and Ford giving limited support to the dealership. Car still in the shop x 1 week- service advisor states it would not be safe for me to take the car until they find the cause because it could do it again at any time.
Driver door ajar alert shift to park alert alarm goes off unexpectedly.

Hello my 12v battery is discharging suddenly and without reason. The battery has been replaced and the fault returns. According to TSB 15-0089, when replacing the battery in the 2013 car, the electronic module should be replaced. The dealer never performed this step, the Ford motor company does not take responsibility for the dealer. I'm afraid that eventually my car will burn. This faulty electronic module (modem or telemetrics) is located near the high voltage lion battery. Please help . I mention that Ford recommends not to connect the charging cable due to the possibility of fire. The 120 volt connivence charge corg provided with the vehicle may overheat. Ford motor company will modify or replace the with a new charge cord that helps prevent the overheating and a possible fire. Almost 2 years after this recall Ford has not notified me of a repair. After over a year of asking they keep saying they can't get the parts from Ford at the same time they admit they have received parts but they are not currently available and when I ask to be informed or put on a list they tell me they don't do that. They say I just have to take my chances when I have service or to call weekly or monthly. And now that I have asked about the recall repair more than once when I take the car in for its oil change it seems they have flagged our account and our treatment is very poor. I set an appointment for an oil change recently and asked if they could fix the recall and they said it was a low priority, that they don't provide a customer waiting list and they cancelled my appointment. When I called again they set it back a week after I mentioned that I was planning on going out of town. Their meanness simply means I will take our other Ford which they have successfully never completed one recall repair on that and the car got so old that they said they no longer have to do the repair but I can now pay for the old recall repairs. Thanks penske Ford who use to be drew Ford in la mesa California.
The 2 back passenger doors do not function properly. They become stuck when closed and cannot be opened in a normal manner. The doors require great force to be opened because the inside door panel comes loose and causes the doors to not operate properly. The doors cannot be opened from the inside of the car and must be opened forcefully by an adult. The means that any child sitting in the back seat is unable to exit the car. This has happened on multiple occasions and happens randomly. This is was noted by Ford to be an issue with the 2013 c max but they refuse to acknowledge the problem with the 2014 c max making the 2014 a death trap. Repeated attempts to have a dealer fix the issue have failed.
The park assist failed when the automated system was parking my vehicle in a parallel parking space. The park assist system appeared to be functioning properly until during the vehicle's it's initial backup maneuver when it backed my vehicle into a parked pickup truck in the adjacent parking stall without warning. Fortunately damage was limited to paint damage on my vehicle's bumper with do damage to the vehicle in the adjacent parking stall. The local Ford dealership here in brandon florida has tested the system and reported that the system is functioning properly, thus denying any responsibility. I have reported this to Ford motor company on 11/09/2017 (cas-13504308) and awaiting a response from them.
Received a letter from Ford although Ford is not calling this a recall I believe it is pretty serious. This if for the customer satisfaction program;17b28 Ford is saying the electronic throttle body may develop contamination and may result in the vehcile entering a protective low-speed mode which can be dangerous if this happens on the highway. I called my local dealer and they are saying that the the next appointment for this fix is not until August 2018! I think this is a pretty serious problem that Ford should fix right away. I have not had any issues however I have read from some people that this has happen on their vehicle in which their car dropped to 5mph.
Oem electric charger (a separate mechanism not a part of the vehicle) caught fire upon plugging it into a socket (same charger, same socket has been used for over 3 years).
It is accelerating to fast after letting foot off gas pedal.
Stalls while in motion on . Had stopped for a light when I went foward the car stalled, then stalled 2 more times in less than 1/8 th mile . Then the car sat for 1/2 hr then was all right the rest of the way home.
Upon braking, the car has lurched forward on several occasions, almost rear ending other cars, happens in all kinds of weather, road surfaces, intermittent but happens probably at least 3 times per week. Also, when stopped and accelerating, the car has a hesitation issue like no fuel gets to it for a moment and that has happened 3 times in the last week as well as several months ago.

There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed and the insurance company deemed the vehicle destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 25,500.
