Four problems related to automatic transmission gear indicator have been reported for the 1997 Ford Contour. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Console gear shift indicator failed, causing shifter to be stuck in gear.
When shifting gears the indicator does not move.
Recall 98 v 233 000/shift level damage: reporting difficulty with shifting out of gear from park position and/or indicator not correctly indicatd actual gear position. Manufacturer was notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was not cover under that recall. Provide any further information on this matter.
Transmission gears have deteriorated. Dealer is repairing vehicle.
