I brought this vehicle into the dealership for safety recall 15s39. There were no problems with the vehicle prior to taking it in. When I received the vehicle back from the dealer they had admitted to not completing all the steps in the safety recall. Now that I have the vehicle the dealer returned it to me with the following issues: all of the interior and exterior lighting including the headlights do not work and the air bag light is illuminated. A supervisor at Ford customer service said they refuse to do anything about the new problems they caused. She stated that "well, it's a pretty old car. " I don't think the age of the car should give Ford a pass to not fix a safety recall. The fix for their safety recall only created safety problems with this car - namely the air bags may not work.

Failure Date: 09/29/2022

Safety recall 19s35b processor lighting cont was done on 3/22/2021on my working part. The original module was working fine. Now the new light module is faulty. Dealership took out part and tested it. Determined that is was faulty causing my lights to fail. Dealership and Ford has denied covering a replacement of the failed part. It would seem that the part should be still covered since it is a part that was part of a recall.

14 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Ford Crown Victoria

Failure Date: 07/03/2017

I have a 2004 Crown Victoria. Ford has a recall out for 2003-2005 grand marquis and Crown Victoria's for their light control module (lcm) because of solders breaking causing exterior lighting not to work. I took my car to my local Ford dealership (April 22, 2017) to have such recall done because my exterior running lights were not working. (parking lights front and running lights rear) I also advise the dealership of this. Which is documented on the receipt I have kept. Ford doesn't replace the actual lcm, all they do is install a "bypass harness" to bypass the issue which does not fix the problem. I left the dealership with the same lights still not in working condition. Again, stated on receipt. The problem fixed itself and I assumed it went away. Now it's back but even worse. Again my exterior lights are not working, parking and rear running lights, and now my interior instrument cluster lights are not working as well. Ford knows about this issue. Ford refuses to replace the faulty lcms in these cars. I know of several other people with the exact same issue I'm having who have called Ford and complained. This is a huge safety issue because there are no rear running lights at night, period. When it's parked, on roadways, highways, etc. No one can see me at night from the rear. . And the dash lights are not on. I can provide whatever needed to help because this needs to be addressed ASAP. I'll call tomorrow if I haven't heard back before.

30 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Ford Crown Victoria

Failure Date: 04/21/2014

Parking lights come on sometimes when the light switch is turned on. Headlights work fine, including brights. Parking light switch setting controls all other lights. I was told by my mechanic that the lighting control module was to fault. When the other lights (includes tail lights, tag light, front parking and side lights) don't come on, it presents an opportunity for a moving violation on the road at night. Obviously, this prevents my driving at night. The law here states that you get a ticket for an unsafe vehicle, you cannot drive the car home, the car is put in impound until you can move it to repair it. Quite a costly experience I would imagine. This was a previous police interceptor. How did they get away with it? there needs to be a recall on this lighting control module.

*brake light switch replaced every few thousand miles, resulting gear shift to be stuck in park. *cruise control disabled.

34 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Ford Crown Victoria

Failure Date: 09/04/2013

Lights failed when driving down dark freeway, nearly drove off road, stopped car, heard click and lights came back on, but a few minutes later, went off again. As I drive down the road I hear a click and then they come back on, but more minutes they go off again, continual intermittent on/off. This occurs when the lights are in headlamp setting, or autolamp control, lights don't work when in this condition in high beams. Fortunately they are working when held toward steering wheel in flash-to-pass, so have been holding the lights on this way for months. From what I've read, this is an ongoing continual problem with this vehicle. I'm surprised there have been no reports of accidents or death, but it's a hard issue to identify as it's inconsistent, and if someone was reported as 'loosing control of their vehicle', it could be loss of lights causing them to run off the road. Read how to do a quick resolution by kicking the lcm under the dash, which sometimes does cause the lights to come back on. Also, have seen a youtube video from a mechanic that shows how to solder on new relays to the computer panel, which fixes the issue for $15. 00, which I've considered doing myself as a replacement unit is upwards of $400. 00. This needs to be a recall issue!!!.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the electrical wire harness to the visor failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 73,000.
