Dealership hasn't been able to perform the steel wheel recall 03v279000 repairs for almost 10 months because the parts were on back order.

2003 Ford Crown Victoria wheels fail at the weld, we have at least 20 failures where the weld cracks and the tire deflates. This is a very serious safety issue that should be addressed. We are afraid that we will have a grave accident if this is not corrected.

Steel wheel cracked around the circumference of the wheel.

The wheels cracked, which caused a loud noise. (police vehicle).

Seems as though when we switced to Ford in 1994 we have had this problem ever since in almost all of our squad cars. No safety defect listed in summary.

Rims seem to vibrate at varying speeds between 50 and 70 mph. Rubber was replaced, problem the same. Tire dealer told me that certain rims were not cut totally round, and that no matter how many times you balance the rubber, it will never be right.

Found four cracked wheels and three wheels with suspected cracks on 2003 Crown Victoria police cruisers. The drivers have complained of front end vibration and shimmy which led to the discovery of cracked wheels.

This police department purchased seven 1998 Ford Crown Victorias. The hub caps on this year model are constantly coming off the vehicle at various low speeds. So far this department has replaced 10 hub caps from it's fleet of 1998 cars. We are not the only pd that has experienced this problem. Numerous agencies across the country have had the same problem. Theses hub caps have dislodged themself from the rim during low speeds. We have one incident were the cap struck a parked motor vehicle. Ha.

The manufacturer is refusing to honor the steel wheel recall 03v279000 because the wheels are on a 1999 model and the recall is on the 2003 model. The wheels on the vehicle fell under the date range. The recall should take into account that the wheel manufacturer's date. (Ford announced a recall on the 2003 vehicle's and also on the wheels dated August 18, 2001 through September 22, 2003).
