Ford E-150 owners have reported 3 problems related to speed control cable (under the vehicle speed control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Ford E-150 based on all problems reported for the E-150.
The throttle on my 2006 Ford van began sticking at approx. 55,000 miles. This is not a pedal issue, it was the throttle butterfly itself that was sticking. The problem resulted in extended stopping distance and finally forced me to run a red light, but did not cause an accident (for me) it would also cause the van to rev up very high when first started, even when no gas had been applied. You also had to hold your foot very firmly on the brake at a stop, or the vehicle would accelerate to approx. 40 mph. I took it to the dealer repeatedly (city Ford in cartersville GA) and argued with the service manager all the way up to the owner of the dealership, and they refused to fix it because they considered it normal wear. A sticking throttle, particularly on a vehicle which uses electronic throttle control, vs a cable should never be "normal". I argued the issue repeatedly with the dealer and also with the Ford zone manager, but finally, for the safety of my family, I was forced to purchase a replacement throttle assembly and swap it out at my own cost ($150).

This is the recall on the Ford van cruise control
that is not an acceptable answer I plan on going across the country and I want the cruise control fixed before that. Nine months to wait for a part is customer service at its finest. Its very strange that I can get the part through the Ford dealer within two weeks if I order it from the parts department. Crcfmc@Ford. Com wrote:

Affected customers will receive a postcard from recall headquarters instructing them to make an appointment with their dealer to have the recall completed. We apologize for the inconvenience this situation causes, and assure you that we are doing everything possible to expedite resolution. > leonila

Ford motor companymain topic: vehiclewarrantyquestionsemail questions: I took the van in for the recall on the cruise control. This was done in October 07. I was told the part would be available in December. In December I was told January, then February then March. It is now April and still nothing. The dealer has been less than helpful and this problem is costing me money since the van is driven on the highway daily with no cruise control. I would like this repaired ASAP. I'm sure the new vehicles have the correct cable why can't I. > owner: yesvehicle identification number: mileage: 55000vehicle location: inpossessionif contacted dealer: yes dealer name:.
