Cruise Control Problems of Ford E-250

The contact owns a 2000 Ford E-250. The contact stated that the speed control switch became detached from the vehicle. The contact was unable to activate the cruise control and stated that there was corrosion on the area that was exposed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

Ford motor company has failed to provide the necessary service to remedy the cruise control recall specified in odi id number : 10056190. I have contacted the dealerships in asheville, north carolina & black mountain, north carolina monthly since I was advised of the recall August, 2007. Each time I have been told that the repair kit is unavailable from Ford.

The contact owns 2004 Ford e 250. The contact stated in order to remove his keys from the ignition; he would have to press and hold his foot on the brake pedal and hold the gear shift selector in the park position while applying slight force. The contact found (NHTSA campaign id number: 08v051000: vehicle speed control: cruise control) which he believed was directly related to the failure. The contact also stated the drivers side seat is defective. The dealer advised the contact that he would have to cover the repair expense for all three failures. There were no repairs made to the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 9,400 and the approximate current mileage was 24,000.

Ford has recalls on 1994-2002 Ford truck 8500 gvw and under I have a 2002 f250 Ford 8600 gvw that uses same cruise control parts as the other trucks. This unit was sitting in garage when not running when the same parts that are being replaced on other vehicles ignited on fire. Ford will not replace the parts.
