The contact placed the gear shifter into neutral to stop the vehicle. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and powered off the engine twice. When the vehicle was restarted, it operated normally and was driven to the contact's residence. In addition, while depressing the brake pedal, smoke appeared from the brake pedal.
