F-350 diesel running erratically. Than will not shift radio stopped working no power all electronics stopped working. Smelt insulation burning on wires. Vehicle was totally disabled. Towed to dealer. Dealer found fuse box melted. Asked dealer to also check out alternator, [maybe putting out to much voltage] got the vehicle back the same thing happened. It was the alternator. Is can cause vehicle fires. Dealer claims he gets a few a month, different models.

2005 Ford E-350 had alternator problems, the a/c compressor has been replaced twice, the engine was rebuilt and check engine light illuminated.
The contact stated that while driving there was an acrid smell coming from the air-conditioning vents. The dealer diagnosed the problem to be an air compressor failure in the air-conditioning system. The contact has ten 2005, and 3, 2006 vehicles. All 13 had the alternators replaced by the dealer before the buses were put into service. There have been 3 alternator failures, 2 high pressure pump failures, 1 clutch fan failure and 5 vehicles with check engine light issues. Updated 8/15/2006 -.

2005 Ford E-350 alternator failed, check engine light illuminated.
: the contact stated the vehicle stalled while traveling 40 mph on 07/12/06. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop who determined that the alternator was damaged and had to be replaced. However the alternator was replaced under warranty by the dealer. When the vehicle was picked up from the dealer on 07/21/06, a bad smell began escaping from the air conditioning unit. The independent repair shop determined that the air compressor system seized and also needs to be replaced.
