Cruise Control Problems of Ford E-350

I was stopped at a stoplight on a highway ramp in town behind another vehicle waiting for the light to turn green. As I sat waiting, the van suddenly accelerated into the vehicle ahead of me while the brakes were still fully applied! I did not have my foot on the gas pedal, just on the brake. The acceleration was so sudden and fast that my front tires left skid marks because the brakes were fully applied. I had been using the cruise control earlier on the highway, but had disengaged it before getting into town, well before the ramp to the stoplight. This is the first time this has happend with this van; however, I also own a 2001 Ford e350 van, and before I stopped using it, I had problems with the cruise control engaging while I was driving, and refusing to disengage. I have reported these incidents with both of my vans to the local Ford dealership, but they said nothing was wrong with the vehicle.

2000 Ford E-350. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle fire. The consumer stated the fire damaged his house and the van was destroyed. The consumer believed the cruise control was the cause of the fire.

The contact owns a 2000 Ford E-350. He received recall notice # 08v051000 (vehicle speed control:cruise control). The vehicle was not repaired since an authoried technician could not provide an estimate on when the parts would be available. The failure mileage 203,304.

Ford powered motorhome was destroyed by an engine fire may 24 2008 there was a recall in September 2007 stating that the cruise control could cause a fire. During a phone call with a dealer I was told parts were not available. Four days after the fire may 24 2008 I received a letter from Ford apologizing for the lack of parts but that they were now available.

The contact owns a 2001 Ford e350. The contact stated that Ford has not properly managed recall number 05s28. There had been no failure to date. The current mileage was 11,000.

Ford E-350 based RV recalled in September to correct problem with speed control deactivation switch (recall 05s28). Vehicle's cruise control disconnected at that time. Dealer reports that parts are still not available to correct the problem. Can't recalls be completed in a timely manner?.

The contact owns a 2000 Ford E-350. The contact received a recall notice for the vehicle speed control. She took the vehicle to the dealer in August of 2007 and the cruise control was deactivated. Since that time, she has been waiting for the recall repair to be performed; however, she has been given four different dates as to when the part would be available. There had been no failure to date. The current mileage was 42,000. Updated 4/21/08.

The contact owns a 1999 Ford E-350. The contact received a recall notice in August of 2007 for the vehicle speed control: cruise control. She called the dealer and they explained that the parts were on backorder, but they would disconnect the cruise control until the parts arrived. As of may 16, 2008, the parts are still unavailable. The contact believes that nearly a year is completely unreasonable to not have received the parts by now. There had been no failure to date; however, she wants her cruise control reconnected. The recall number was unknown.

Cruise control possibly stuck causing driver to loose control of the vehicle, run off the road,hit a guardrail, return to the road when the vehicle overturned and slid down the road. One passenger was ejected form the vehicle and died all other passenger had no evident injuries.
