My fuel tank interior flaked so severely it caused the engine to buck violently and dramatically loose power. This was caused by the almost complete blockage of the fuel tank pickup screen/filter. Since that time I have had to disassemble and thoroughly clean the fuel pickup of the flakes 4 times including today. Each time the pickup was packed with silver flakes from the deteriorating lining of the fuel tank. The problem occurred each time while trailering my RV down the interstate. It is extremely scary and the almost complete loss of power makes it very difficult to get to the next exit. The problem is so persistent that I have put a door in the floor of my van so that I no longer have to drop the tank for access. I purchased this Ford E-350 diesel new in 2000.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford e350 diesel engine. While driving at unknown speeds, the check engine light illuminated on the warning panel and the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the failure would occur intermittently and the vehicle had been taken to the dealer several times. The dealer made repairs to the fuel tank, fuel pump, high pressure fuel sensor pump and the oil pressure pump. In addition, the fuel injector was replaced five times in an attempt to correct the stalling failure. On a separate date, the vacuum pump was replaced as well. The manufacturer stated that the failure was due to the quality of gasoline the contact had chosen to put into the vehicle. The failure mileage was 21,000 and the current mileage was 143,000.

Carter county emergency ambulance service has a total of 10 Ford e350 Ford ambulances. Three of the 2005 that we purchased last July been nothing but problems. High pressure pump and injectors, three ambulances and a total of 220 days of down time on this problem. (tried to get help from Ford but to no vain. ) all ten of our ambulances are Fords but the three 2005 models are the only ones that have given us any trouble.
From the very first day we owned our brand new Ford E-350 diesel cube van we have had an ongoing drivabilty problem. The engine cuts out while driving almost coming to a stall and spits black or blue smoke out of the tail pipe. We have had the vehicle to the dealership five times to date to have this problem fixed. The dealership cannot find the problem. We have tried to take the truck to a different dealer, but they say they cannot fix it because another dealer has already worked on the truck and got paid, so we have to take it back to them. We use this truck for business and have had to rent a truck several times to take the truck in and find the next day that it is still not fixed. We are out $400. 05 that we believe either the dealership or Ford should reimburse us for. I called the Ford customer service line and was basically told that rental reimbursements are not covered in the warranty. Should we be resposible for having to pay these fees? we bought a brand new truck so we would not have this problem. It is also not our fault the dealership cannot find the problem. We have been more than patient and feel we should get our truck fixed properly and be reimbursed for our losses. We see there has been a recall on our vehicle and still have not been notified. Which only means once again we have to pay to rent a truck while ours goes in for repairs, with no guarentee that it will get fixed that time either.

The design of the trucks diesel fuel/water separator lever makes it difficult to know when the lever is in the shut off position. As a result diesel fuel spilled after attempting to shut it off. Consumer started engine and let idle for 2 minutes. Smelled fuel and cut it off. He then noticed a large puddle of fuel in the driveway. When he checked the lever he realized it wasn't closed all the way.
