Open recall for paint peeling on the gas tank, could cause a fire. No Ford dealers in my area can take care of the problem. : I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a Ford dealership’s failure to properly support and address a safety recall on my vehicle. As you know, safety recalls are issued to protect consumers and ensure that potentially dangerous vehicle defects are corrected promptly and at no cost to the vehicle owner. When a dealership fails or refuses to properly handle a recall repair, it raises serious safety and compliance concerns. Despite bringing my vehicle to the dealership regarding the recall, the issue has not been properly addressed. I am requesting that this matter be reviewed and that appropriate action be taken to ensure the recall repair is handled in accordance with federal safety requirements. For reference, my vehicle information is as follows: vehicle make/model: Ford VIN: [xxx] ___________?recall number (if known): ___gas tank peeling______________?dealership name & location: ____5 dealerships in my area_____________ date of visit: __called all dealers so did Ford customer support_________________ I respectfully request assistance in ensuring that the recall repair is completed properly and without further delay. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

On August 2, 2024 I was driving my 2022 Ford f-350 7. 3l on the interstate when I experienced sudden loss of power, engine was sputtering, obviously not getting fuel in my opinion. Engine eventually quit, and I came to rest on the side of I 20/59. No check engine light or other warning lights were ever illuminated during this episode. After 10-15 minutes of attempting to start, the engine finally restarted and I continued approx. 50 miles to my home with no further issues. On Aug. 14, I took my f-350 to town and country Ford in bessemer, al. Their service dept ran several diagnostics, tested fuel pressure, ethanol content, checked for misfire issues and road tested. No problems were found. Odometer at the time was 26,183. In July 2025 I received a recall notice from Ford (NHTSA recall 25v455) for possible loss of fuel pressure due to fuel pump failure. Today (December 8, 2025) I attempted to contact Ford to get an update on the recall, was provided no updated information (automated system only, live person was not an option). Also contacted town and country Ford service dept. For any knowledge they may have, which was none as well. I do not drive the truck every day, primarily due to not wishing to get stranded far from a repair facility (current odometer 38,000). I am filing this complaint to hopefully expedite Ford's response to a problem they have been aware of for over a year if not longer, and certainly since July 2025. The absence of any updates is infuriating for an issue that could become catastrophic.
Vehicle was in motion on a city street and the fuel injector dash light appeared momentarily and then disappeared . Shortly afterwards, I began to sense the slight smell of diesel and just as I turned into my homes driveway there was a loud burst from the engine compartment and the truck began to smoke. I stopped and shut off the vehicle immediately and exited as I was going to inspect the situation. There were screams of fire coming from my wife as the trucks engine compartment began to roar with flames. Action was taken to put out the fire but the flames were too strong. 911 was called and the fire department began in route to our location. In my attempts to contain the fire the truck began to attempt to start on its own. After approximately 3 attempts of the truck starting, there was another loud burst and more flames. Afterwards the horn began to alarm for several minutes. With the help of my neighbors between the water hose and fire extinguisher we were able to contain upon the 18 minute arrival time of the fire department. It is unknown at this time to what caused this fire. Please understand my frustrations as I tell you my 2 year old son was strapped in his car seat in a vehicle that was on fire which was only purchased only 6 months ago from a certified Ford dealership. Photos of engine compartment and cab dash area are attached.

Ford trucks 2008-10 are known to have turbo, emission and radiator problems. Causing the vehicles to stop running. They have a pipe before turbos that burns on the inside causing it not to clean out. We take good care of our vehicles, we do oil changes every 4000 miles, we change tires and keep everything clean and up to date. We did not run this vehicle hard. It was under warranty the first time we had trouble. In 2013 the vehicle was running at 28,000 miles and quit. It was suggested by Ford to clear emission. Turbos went out totally at 53,000 miles cost of $6700. Then at another 900 miles at 53900 it stopped again. The vehicle spent 2 and a half months in the shop before it would run again. They said the pipe before turbos burnt from inside making turbos quit. We got it out our cost $2300. They wrote off $2500 they said. Next day the radiator was cracked on the seam. Of course it wasn't the shops fault. So that was another $2000. The Ford company that fixed it said we should have ran it hard that then we wouldn't have had as many problems. It has 54000 and no Ford dealer even wants a truck made on their lot before 2010. So you know they should have some recalls. They won't stand behind anything!!.

I was going down the road 45mph and all of a sudden it has trouble like it wasn't getting any gas and it started dropping speed went all the to 0. When you pull over and put it in park it runs really rough, then I cut it off leave it sit 10 minutes. Try to crank it back up sometimes it will crank sometimes it won't, then it acts like it's not getting any gas.

The contact owns a 1989 Ford E-350. The contact stated that while exiting from the wheel chair ramp that was attached to the vehicle in a wheel chair, the vehicle independently rolled away and crashed into a gate. The contact was not injured. Additionally, the contact was driving 70 mph and smelled an abnormal and persistent gasoline odor. The contact was able to see gasoline spewing from the vehicle in the rear-view mirror. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact inquired with the manufacturer of NHTSA campaign numbers: 90v101000 (power train) and 91v146000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the VIN was not included in either recall. The manufacture was made aware of the failure and declined to provide a remedy to repair the failure. The contact stated that he had experienced both failures. The failure mileage was 103,000.
On 03/15/11 spark plug #6 blew out of the head of engine causing a strong smell of gasoline. On 06/01/11 spark plug #3 blew out same odors resulted. Dealer rethreaded hole(s). Metal shavings could now be in the head of the engine causing more damage. Dealer says this is not a permanent repair and may happen again. This is a fire hazard. Gasoline could ignite causing a fire and/or impaired vision. [xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2008 Ford E-350. Whenever the vehicle was parked for an extensive amount of time, the battery failed and could not be jumpstarted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the batteries failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired eight times; however, the failure recurred. In addition, the vehicle experienced two oil leaks and a diesel leak. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
At 68,450 miles, several issues occurred: 1) oil pressure switch blew out of the housing, 2) oil was visible in coolant, 3) oil was leaking from engine, 4) idle vacillated up and down w/o any action on part of the user. Took van to dealer, who claimed to have repaired these items. Inspection of the "repaired vehicle" revealed oil still dripping off engine onto ground. Was told that this was "normal" and would disappear. However, this did not happen. Engine has continued to leak and oil continues to mix with coolant fluid, even after flushing system twice since repair. Despite numerous calls to dealer, problem has not been fixed. Engine has less than 13k additional miles on it since "repair" and oil is still leaking. Leak continues to get worse with time. I believe this is a manufacturer's defect and since the engine has far less than 100k miles on it, should be repaired as a warranty item. Mixing of oil and coolant is a safety hazard and needs to be programmatically addressed by Ford.
