Ford E-350 owners have reported 24 problems related to power train (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Ford E-350 based on all problems reported for the E-350.
The component that failed was the transmission system, specifically the cdf clutch cylinder, the torque converter, and the front support structure. The transmission was found to contain metal debris, burned clutch components, and damage to internal bushings and supports. 1. These parts were replaced under warranty by central Ford in south gate, CA. I do not have possession of the damaged components, and I cannot confirm whether they remain available for inspection. 2. The failure resulted in loss of power while driving — particularly during gear shifts into 10th gear at highway speeds. The truck also began to shudder violently, and a “powertrain malfunction / power reduced” message appeared on the dash. This put me and others at risk, especially in high-speed traffic where sudden deceleration or power loss can lead to collisions, particularly for heavy-duty trucks like mine that are often used for towing or hauling. 3. Yes, the issue was diagnosed, reproduced, and confirmed by central Ford. A full teardown of the transmission confirmed internal damage including: a shifted and burned cdf clutch cylinder torque converter damage front support wear and metal transfer metal debris inside the transmission all affected components were replaced, and the transmission was reassembled and reinstalled. The vehicle was inspected by a Ford-certified dealership (central Ford). There was no involvement by police or insurance representatives, as the failure did not lead to a crash or claim. Yes. The vehicle displayed a “powertrain malfunction / power reduced” warning. This occurred in conjunction with loss of acceleration, shuddering, and hesitation when shifting into higher gears (particularly 10th). These symptoms appeared shortly before I brought the truck in for service on [xxx]. This failure happened at relatively low mileage for a heavy-duty truck that is used primarily for regular driving and light commercial use. I am concerned that this is part of a bro information redacted pursuant to the freedom of inform.

Carvana is attempting to sell this vehicle in lehi, utah. After speaking with the Ford dealership that worked on it for an “internal transmission repair” they told me the the vehicle’s engine is bad (full long block replacement is recommended and the dealership told me it’s dangerous) and needs a new engine. The previous owner was told this and then turned around and sold it to carvana. I told carvana this and they did nothing about it and it is still for sale. Please protect anyone looking to purchase this vehicle as it is not safe.

Hello, when I start my vehicle and leave it in park and idle the transmission makes a mechanical clicking noise. I went under the truck to try to find the source of the noise. When I was underneath I found that when the clicking noise is active the drive line coming out the rear of the transmission is trying to turn. It is rocking back and forth. This is what the clicking noise is. I tried it with the vehicle in neutral also. Same result. The transmission is sending power to the driveline while in park and neutral. I have a video I can submit but this form won’t let me include a video. If you response to me through email I will attach it there.

Van does not always engage in reverse. Slips into neutral instead and rolls. Takes several attempts, sometimes over the course of 10+ minutes to get the transmission to engage into reverse. Problem has been intermittent over the past 30 days. May be related to nstsa recall 23v625 although not as described in notice 23s54.

This is a school bus carrying students with 29956 miles. When stopped at a red light at a busy intersection the bus would not move forward. Driver attempted to select different gears from the drive gear, 3,2,1 and reverse. The school bus would not shift into any gear. Another bus was dispatched and students transferred. This is a very dangerous situation at a busy intersection. Ford found that the coast clutch spring and snap ring broken. This is the 3rd bus we own that has had this issue.

Driving at 70 miles per hour on 1nterstate 4 in the center of 3 lanes the car lost power and after trying to accelerate,it completely shut down. We were fortunate to be able to cross over to the right lane and eventually find a place on the shoulder of the road. This car has the push button start and cannot be started without depressing the brake. In this situation it would probably caused a chain reaction accident. After reading some other complaints on this happening there has to be some way this can be prevented. The analysis of this problem by the dealership is the throttle body assembly was faulty. This was a problem with all Ford edges from 2010 and other vehicles. I paid $572. 00 when I had to have it replaced on my 2010 edge, because I was told it was not part of the drive train.

2012 e350 Ford with 69 k miles and before I reached 70 k miles the transmission froze up. The forward planetary assembly bearing failed. This is covered under Ford’s customer satisfaction program 12n04. I being the 3rd owner, I did not know of this Ford program when the trans failed. The trans failed ½ block from community transmissions in bellflower, I drove in and had the repair work done. Total $2012. 70. No problems with them. I never received the Ford customer satisfaction letter. I called Ford in detroit and they first said I would be covered. I was instructed to take the repair bill and old parts to caruso Ford as they have to file a claim for me. After waiting a month, I called Ford detroit again and found out that caruso Ford said that I am not covered. I spoke with richard who is my service writer at caruso Ford, long beach. First, he said I was not covered because I do not meet the time and mileage limits in the letter. I pointed out that my Ford does meet the 6 year and 150 k limits in the letter. Then richard said I had the repair done on a Monday and all Ford dealers are open on Monday and I could have had the repair done for free at a Ford dealer. Richard then said that Ford detroit said that I am not covered. Passing the buck! I asked to speak with the caruso Ford service manager, and was told he would call me. I never got a call from him. I call Ford detroit again and asked to speak with a supervisor, I was told supervisor robert would call me. I never got a call from him. The Ford satisfaction letter states that “if you have paid to have this service done before the date of this letter, then you maybe eligible for a refund. ” I received no letter. I did not know about the customer satisfaction letter until after I had the repair work done. I feel that Ford is not living up to the intent of their letter.
Transmission has completely failed already.

Driving uphill on I-70 eastbound by silverthorne, CO the engine simply quit. Limped to side of highway and tried to restart - nothing. Batteries are new, etc just no turning over of the engine. Thoughts are a bad ficm, which there is supposedly a recall but Ford denied that when I called this morning. Had the vehicle towed to a shop in arvada, CO for diagnosis and repairs. Sounds like the egr system is about to go, the ficm is shot and wiring harness for computer is gone - all things Ford is aware of but adamantly refuses to do anything about. This leaves the consumer in the position to have to spend thousands of $'s to repair their design flaws.
The contact owns a 1989 Ford E-350. The contact stated that while exiting from the wheel chair ramp that was attached to the vehicle in a wheel chair, the vehicle independently rolled away and crashed into a gate. The contact was not injured. Additionally, the contact was driving 70 mph and smelled an abnormal and persistent gasoline odor. The contact was able to see gasoline spewing from the vehicle in the rear-view mirror. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact inquired with the manufacturer of NHTSA campaign numbers: 90v101000 (power train) and 91v146000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the VIN was not included in either recall. The manufacture was made aware of the failure and declined to provide a remedy to repair the failure. The contact stated that he had experienced both failures. The failure mileage was 103,000.
Sudden tire tread separation of three tires in three weeks. Two in less then 15 miles. Tires are only four years old and only 6000 miles on them. They are the correct size and load e rating kuhmo venture ht for the motorhome that these tires are mounted on. The tread separation had no warning. The manufacture called the first tire failure as a blow out and did not try to replace or inspect the tire for the cause of the failure. I do not longer have the first failed tire. I do have the others two rears that failed in the 15 mile span and the rear that has not failed. They were all rear tires in there original locations in the time frame. I would have expected at least two more years out of the tires before any failure of this type would have happened.
