Brake Disc Caliper Problems of Ford Econoline

Brakes wore out and were replaced every 4-6 months. The caliper was made of fiberglass and crumbled under the heat of braking causing the brake pads to wear prematurely. The consumer was having the front disk brakes and the caliper piston replaced with metal a metal kind, consumer has also had problems with the abs.

When brakes are applied vehicle pulls to left severely, doesn't have to be at any speed. Vehicle has been in repair shop 8 to 10 times for same problem. Contacted dealer, and dealer earlier replaced rotors/ pads ,and calipers. But still did not remedy problem. Dealer could not find cause.

Since we've had the van. The brakes have given us problems, and the dealer worked on the vehicle multiple times. It is evident that they had no clue how to fix the problem! the first major repair was done on 1/28/98 and 12362 miles. . The dealer has now been bought out by classic, and they have been no help at all!!! I've talked to other people with e-150s who report similar problems! I've replaced the rotors/calipers, shoes ,and continue to have problems getting the vehicle antilock system to work properly!.

When depressing brakes on wet/snowy roads vehicle would skid/traveled to left or right, no braking power in rear wheels. Front brake pads and calipers wear prmaturely. Rear brake drum rusted. The brake problem still exist.

Was coming to a stop brake pedal went to floor. No brakes. Was towed to service station. Mechanic said abs brakes were not working. Towed to dealership. Brake pads replaced & rotors turned. Problem returned. Back at dealershp & rotors replaced. Problem still existed. Back again to dealer & calipers replaced. Was told things were fine. Took vehicle around corner & no brakes at all.

Vehicle experiences a pulling problem. Dealer replaced calipers, but vehicle continues to pull.
