1 Brake Antilock Wheel Speed Sensor problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

A wheel speed sensor failed (per my mechanic), causing the abs and traction control systems to malfunction. It became extremely difficult to stop the car, with the brake pedal pulsing and traveling nearly to the floorboard. I was finally able to stop the car just before running a red light by standing on the brake pedal. The brake pads were at ~50% per a recent state inspection. This happened again in February 2015 when another wheel speed sensor failed with my wife and children in the car with me. I was able to temporarily resolve the issue by pulling the abs fuse to disable the abs system. Ford's r&m engineers must have forgotten to perform a failure mode analysis on the Edge's abs system.
