After I filled up my gas tank two days later when the car parked. . I notice a strong gas smell near the rear left tire. I looked down to found out it was the gas tank leaking from the top. 2007 Ford Edge gas tank leaks.
For 2-3 weeks, smelled gas vapors when we got near the car to go somewhere. I got under the car and took a photo of a rust spot with gas staining near it. It looks like it was part of a recall (14v682000) but our car was not included. When I asked the dealer about it they said they took care of the recall on one of our previous visits. I had to pay for a new gas tank.

"takata recall" we have tried reaching out to several dealerships for the past year regarding both of our recall notices (airbag and fuel tank). Every time we received one we have contacted (3) nearby Ford dealerships in grand rapids, every dealership for the past year continues to inform us they do not have the parts and services and to call back in a month. Every month for the past year we have called - still no parts! we are aware this car came from florida from our report, which we purchased in michigan. Today, October 26th, 2018 received the settlement claim. It states we cannot be apart of the claims because we have not serviced our vehicle yet. However, we have tried for one full year to get this vehicle serviced! at this point in time, we are now considering hiring an attorney and attending the hearing on December 11th, 2018. We would like to receive notification how to get our recalls resolved and serviced in michigan, since noparts are available (on-going over one-year of calling). Please contact me directly how we are able to proceed?! michelle galinetti (formerly hiller when purchased the vehicle) bin number 2fmdk36c27ba80128 (517) 304-6188.

I purchased this vehicle in 2016 with a open recall, the dealership failed to inform me about or fix prior to selling it. The vehicle has had several problems they refused to repair even though I purchased it from them. They are a gm dealership said they do not have the tools to make any repairs on the vehicle. This incident in question happened on 11-04-17 the car was sitting in my driveway and I noticed a puddle of gas under the car, the gas tank is what was leaking and there has been a open recall on it since 2014.
Takata recall. Dealership has not scheduled repair date. Fuel tank rust/leak recall. Dealer has stated repair dates unknown.
Gas tank is leaking, tank is rusted.
The vehicle was identifed under NHTSA campaign number 14v682000 and was taken to my local Ford dealership on August 22, 2016 to have the necessary repairs completed. A strong fuel odor was coming from the vehicle. After less than 30 minutes, the Ford dealership called and said the repairs were completed. The only repairs that were completed were four new bolts (I have the invoice from the Ford dealership showing only four new bolts were installed). The fuel tank was not replaced, no corrosion preventative was applied to the tank, and no inspection report was provided. Starting in August 2017, a strong fuel odor started again. The vehicle was returned to the local Ford dealership, and I was informed that the fuel tank had so much corrosion it was starting to split in one corner. The Ford dealership said it recommended a new fuel tank, and that it would not be covered until the safety recall and it would be my responsibility to pay for the new fuel tank.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v384000 (air bags) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. The dealer (velde Ford, 488 us-1, vero beach, FL 32962, (772) 569-3400) did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The contact was unable to determine when the vehicle would be repaired. The dealer and manufacturer made no mention of when they would provide the manufacturer service campaign number: 14r02 for the fuel tank seam leaks (07-08 Edge-mkx - non corrosion st-prov). The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact was also checking to determine if they would provide a remedy for the service campaign. The contact was not experiencing a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Had an "cel" check engine light come on for no reason. My vehicle was running fine ( except for that light) took my vehicle to the kennedy Ford dealer for a fuel tank corrosion issue ( a recall ) well the recall was free to investigate but the light apparently diagnosed as the "tb" throttle body. Noticed Ford had had documented problems but was told by Ford customer service person that my vehicle was not covered. Wondering when if at all all their "tb's" will be covered? vehicle runs well except for the alleged "tb" pending issue.

Fuel tank is leaking. There is a recall for this issue for vehicles in bordering states. The issue is apparently widespread and Ford refuses to help. Dealer wants $1700 to replace the tank.
Fuel tank is leaking consistent with previously reported problems and already issued recalls on this model. Recall number 14s22. Ford advises that this vehicle id number is not covered in spite of the issue being identical to the issue covered by recall 14s22.

Noticed a gas smell. Found a leaking gas tank with a puddle under my car.
Fuel leaking from gas tank on my awd 2007 Ford Edge. Strong odor of gasoline fumes coming from the car. Got it checked out, and the gas tank is leaking where the top half of the tank is welded to the bottom half of the tank. Service center said to keep the tank less than half full to minimize gas leaking from the tank. The strong fumes still cause an extreme hazard to my family. No replacement gas tank is available in the entire united states. Now this car sits motionless in my driveway.
Gas tank is rusting out on top of tank and on seam. Contacted Ford and was told to replace tank at a cost of 2800. 00 dollars just for tank. I think this is a safety issue because exhaust is right below the tank. How can a vehicle that is 7 years old be rusting out a gas tank. I think Ford has known about this problem because I can't even locate a used tank to replace it with. How can they justify a new tank at 2800. 00. They should have recalled to replace these tanks, 07,08,09 and some 2010 Ford Edges are affected with this problem and not just a couple but practically everyone sold! I really like my Edge but if they won't stand behind their vehicle over a safety issue this will be the last Ford I own. Thanks!.
Leaking fuel tank. Advised by technician not to park inside enclosed garage due to fire hazard. Ford motor company is aware of leaking fuel tanks on these model vehicles and is not assisting owners in repairs or replacement. Replacement cost $2,018 and tanks are on back order. Ford allowing hazardous conditions for vehicle owners.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Ford Edge. The contact stated that fuel fumes emitted into the vehicle refueling. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the fuel tank had rusted causing the fuel to leak on the exhaust. As a result, the fuel tank needed to be replaced but the part needed to do the repair was unavailable. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. Pam.
I put a set tires on my vehicle last week and was told my gas tank was leaking. I took it to a Ford dealership to get estimate on repair. They also stated the tank was leaking. The entire tank would need to be replaced to the tune of $2,200. 00 roughly. The ironic thing here the fuel tank is on a national backorder and have no idea when this problem can be fixed!!!! there should be a recall, somebody needs to wake up here!!!! are we going to wait for an accident here where someone is killed before Ford fixes this problem!!!!.
I have an 2007 Ford Edge, filled the tank, the next day smelled a fuel odor, 1 week later seen that there is a gas leak. Took the car to a mechanic, stated the seams on the passenger side of the tank are rusted. Have not contacted maunfacture & not repaired. There are alot of gas tank complaints, not too sure why this year has not been recalled. This is a fire risk. A 7 year old car should not have a fuel tank issue.
I began to smell a strong gas smell, then I saw drops of gas on my driveway. I took the vehicle to my dealership. They informed me the fuel tank was rusted with a hole, thus the leak. The repair was very costly, I asked them to pursue a used fuel tank. After researching extensively, the dealer and I found that all of the used fuel tanks also have holes and are rusted. The dealer went forward with requesting a new fuel tank, only to find that Ford has them on backorder with an eta of never. The dealership rep called Ford to find they are no longer making the fuel tank, there is no supplier for the fuel tank. I am left with a car that cannot be repaired properly. The Ford relationship center has been no help. This is a serious safety issue. Ford has turned a blind eye. Consumers need to know about this potentially deadly defect.
My 2007 Ford Edge SUV has the same fuel tank leak issue as Ford recall number 14s22 but is not part of the recall. I do not know where it was originally sold but it is registered in tennessee. My concern is the same as listed in the recall, "a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire. ".
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Edge. While driving approximately 45 mph, the contact smelled fuel. The contact also stated that the fuel tank was fractured. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000.
Fuel tank leaking. Noticed a strong fuel odor when I filled the tank. Did some research and there are over a hundred complaints about this. Leak is coming from the top seal or seam. There must be a problem because Ford has a back order on the tank when I tried to get it fixed they did not know when they could get one in. I do think a recall is in order.
My gas tank has started leaking. My mechanic has told me it will probably take 2 months before a replacement tank will be available.
I detected a faint odor of gasoline. A week later after vehicle was sitting in the driveway overnight there was an overwhelming odor of gas around the vehicle. Our mechanic found a leaking fuel tank, rusted at the seam, dripping on to the exhaust. Vehicle is not driveable. As of this time the local Ford dealer cannot even give an estimate when a replacement tank might be available and used tanks are apparently difficult to find.
I recently purchased a 2007 Ford Edge sel awd. I have had no problems with the vehicle until this past Thursday (09/11/2014) when I put $40. 00 worth of gas in it when it was close to empty. After putting in $40. 00 worth of gas, it gave me a approximately 3/4 tank of gas. I then parked it at my place of work (no incline of any sort) and started to smell gas. The tank is leaking on the passenger side underneath. After work, I drove home (maybe 10 miles) and have not even moved the vehicle until today (09/13/2014) and only have 1/4 tank of gas left. Not only is it leaking gas but the inside of the vehicle wreaks. I have a 2 month old child who I am afraid to take in the vehicle now because the smell is so strong. This issue needs to be resolved as I am not the only person who has complained about this situation. I see that 2008 Ford Edge models have been recalled due to the same problem. I refuse to spend close to $2000. 00 to fix the problem. Thank you.
I was smelling fuel everytime I walked around my car. I had my boyfriend look at it and he said that the seals on the fuel tank are corroded and that I would need a new fuel tank. After calling Ford, which choses not to do anything about this, it is going to cost close to $2,700 to have it replaced. I drive my children around in this vehicle. Ford refuses to list this as a recall. Why??? most people who drive this type of car, has a family or children. It is very scary to think that my car could possibly catch on fire, or worse.
