Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problems of the 2008 Ford Edge

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Edge. After the fuel tank was replaced per NHTSA campaign number: 14v682000 (fuel system, gasoline), the fuel gauge did not register the correct amount of fuel in the vehicle. The vehicle was returned to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the sending unit was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was returned to the dealer approximately six times for the same failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 178,000.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the fuel tank leaked a small amount of fuel onto the ground. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. There was a recall according to NHTSA campaign number: 14v682000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the part needed to perform the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.

On December 12, 2014 Ford mailed a safety recall notice to my attention regarding NHTSA recall 14v-682 regarding corrosion of fuel tank mounting brackets. I was told that this letter was for information only and that I would be contacted when parts were ready for the repair. We are approaching 10 months since the letter was mailed and I am still waiting for Ford to contact me regarding the availability of the needed repair parts. As I live in the northeast and salt is used extensively on the roads during the winter I do not want to go through another winter with this issue be unresolved.
