The contact did not sustain injuries. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact owns a 2008 Ford Edge. The contact was driving 60 mph when the power steering function failed. The contact was not able to steer because the steering wheel seized. The contact was able to merge to the shoulder where the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer noticed that the power steering belt disconnected from the lower crank shaft pulley and the crank shaft pulley was re-attached. The contact stated that the belt should not have fallen off the crank shaft pulley and believed the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The failure mileage was 28,000.
