1 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2014

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while at a complete stop, the malfunction indicator, the tire pressure monitoring system, and air bag warning lights illuminated. The contact also mentioned that the vehicle lost acceleration power and failed to shift gears. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 72,000.

2 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2013

On Dec 6, 2013,when starting the car after sitting for<3 hours then shifting the car into gear the car acts like it is not in gear, races the engine and the speedometer shows a speed unrelated to actual movement. There is slow movement but no actual gear engagement. Car was taken to local Ford dealer who spent several days to repair the transmission. One April 20 the same episode occurred but this time I was pulling into traffic which could have caused an accident. The same symptoms occurred.

3 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2012

I am unable to "select affected parts" in this form: parts - power train, transmission, battery. Over the past 6 months there have been numerous incidents where my vehicle, upon returning to speed or entering a roadway/highway, or otherwise entering a roadway, it has made a noise, a sudden jerk, seem to hold speed (fail to increase speed) and seems to feel like it is failing to changed gears (appears to rev in rpms slightly), then jerks again, and comes back into routine shifting. It is an automatic. This happens often. I have had the fluid check, flushed, replaced, asked my mechanic and she can find no issues. It seems to feel like it bogs down, but rpms appear to increase (almost as if it is not in gear/neutral). It seems to be happening more and more frequently. I have routinely checked my car for recalls. And I should note have had the ball bearing go bad (as recalled) and replaced, including the entire arm on the left rear. Additionally, my battery has failed and been replaced (approximately 3 years ago) and has since required replacement again. It needs to be jumped started, and upon first replacement (by Ford) it was noted not all cylinders or cells were charged/charging.

4 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2010

2008 Ford Edge - transmission and acceleration defect. Our Edge hesitates when accelerating after a stop and then jumps forward violently. Sometimes it will not go at all. Afraid of running into something. We got the throttle body replaced. Now the car will not change gears. Rpm are over 7 and car won't go past 20 mph. We have had it in the shop 3 times for the same problem. Because it often runs fine and then suddenly has this issue where it won't go, it could cause a serious accident on a highway. I've seen many, many other people complaining about this same car, same issue all over the web. Ford needs to do something. Started in April '10, issue still not fixed as of Aug '10.
