Tl- the contact inquired about a recall on the 2008 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 the vehicle had difficulty shifting and reduced power when acceleration. The failure happened without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was 130,000. The VIN was not provided. Kh.
Vehicle unexpectedly and randomly displays odo data error on instrument panel, mileage and speedometer don't function, vehicle loses all power and does not accelerate. This resets itself after turning car off, removing key, then restarting car. When are you going to force Ford to issue a recall, when someone dies? there are hundreds if not thousands with same complaints. Here's a sample. . . Https://youtu. Be/px3sc2ycmeo.
I was driving out of town for a work meeting with an employee. Only going approx 45-50 mph, all the sudden the speedometer drops to 0 along with the mileage on my car(just dashes), then the airbag light came on and a wrench light came on then few minutes later the tire pressure light. We were coming up on a red light so I slowed down and stopped. When the light turned green I pressed my gas pedal and the car went no where. I slowly moved to the side of the road and shut my car off. I was hoping to make it to the gas station 2 miles up the road. I waited a few minutes turned my car back on a very odd noise happened the speedometer was back on and the lights were gone, I went to put the car in d and the odd noise again, pushed the gas to accelerate and nothing. Currently my car is on the side of the road waiting a tow 1 hour away from home. I'm lucky my children were not with me when this occurred, it could have been very dangerous. This was my first experience with this, not only dangerous but very embarrassing with an employee in my car as well.
My transmission is being replaced at 96,400 miles. I've been having intermittent problems where it would clunk when shifting to the next gear. I've paid hundreds of dollars between 2 Ford dealerships and 2 automotive repair shops just to try to figure out what the issue is. But last week as I started my 30 mile drive home, my car stopped shifting. Now I'm paying roughly $5,000 to get a transmission in my car. On top of paying $200 for a rental car during all of this. This vehicle needs to be recalled!.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle experienced a loss of acceleration and the odometer went blank as there was a sudden increase of engine rpms. The contact mentioned that the wrench light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the engine revved up to 7,000 rpms per minute. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road with caution where the engine was turned off. After restarting, the rpms increased rapidly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the throttle body would need to be replaced. The vehicle was currently being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000. Js.
Pulling out of a parking lot turning right tried to accelerate significant amount of traffic behind me after turning and I couldn't go anywhere. Pulled into the nearest parking lot approx. 50 feet or more piled into parkin spot. Then sat for a couple inured wrench illuminated on dash board. Tried to back up to straighten vehicle and it made a loud clunk noise when putting in reverse. After turning off car went to restart after 30 minutes car made loud clunk again without being in gear. At this time it isn't a recalled item just. TSB and not getting any resolution as to why this isnt a recall item. Approx. 45 minutes prior to this incident I was on the highway driving the speed limit. What would have happened if the failure occurred at this point. Thank god it didn't as I wouldn't be writing this letter. For the safety of others this should be considered a recall item.
On 07-23-2015 at 10:30 am est I was driving to work at the rate of 50 mph all of a sudden the vehicle stopped. The odometer/speed gauge stopped and the engine stalled. After consulting with Ford and another mechanic shop they indicated this is a known issue with the throttle position sensor. However there are no recalls for this defect. This is a clear safety issue as the sudden loss of power and stoppage of the vehicle could have injured me or killed me or possible injured or killed other people. It appears this is a know safety issue that Ford has no plans to remedy even though it could lead to loss of life. Respectfully, gregory harden mba.
As I was driving, dash flashed "odo data error", then wrench light came on followed by airbag, tpm, engine light, basically all warning lights, odometer went to zero, loss of accelaration, pulled over and placed in park, car was revving high, turned car off and restarted, same, put on drive, stepped on gas, car revved but no movement. Turned car off and waited couple minutes, restated, warning lights disappeared, odometer back to actual mileage. Put on drive, step on gas, hesitation then loud transmission thump and car started moving again.
Engine symbol on also wrench symbol lost acceleration pull over turn off put in rev heard loud clunk rpm high but not accelaration.
Driving and all the sudden car loses transmission capability. It shifts really hard and when at a stop have to rev the engine to get it to go at a crawl. All lights on dashboard light up - tool wrench - air bag disabled - odometer and speedometer stop working. Very dangerous in traffic!!!!.
Sometimes the transmission will not drive the car after a stop or if changing from drive to reverse or reverse to drive. Rpm will go very high and only move the car very slowly. At other times there will be a bad shift or a strange sound. This can happen any time, when first starting out for the day, after running for a time, after a long drive or after stopping for a turn, red light, stop sign or just slowing down. The dealer says there is nothing wrong. Also noise coming from the rear while in motion. I believe the sensors are intermittent as I had a similar problem with my Dodge caravan which went away after I replaced the sensors myself because the repair station told me there was nothing wrong after 3 attempts to have the problem rectified. You are all supposed to be professional experts so fix the problem.
The speedometer stopped working, two or three warning light on the instrument panel came on, the car lost all power. I would only go forward with the gas petal pushed to the floor. It's a known issue, found out from youtube many people have had the same exact issue. It's an intermittent issue that happens when the vehicle is on the road creating a hazardous situation for everyone. Here is what is known about this issue. Technical service bulletin 07-3-11 6f50 transaxles built prior to 1/1/2007 - dtc p0715, p0717, p0718, p0720, p0721, p0722 and/or harsh engagement, no upshift, fifth gear only. Some 2007 Edge and mkx vehicles equipped with a 6f50 transaxle with a transaxle build date prior to 1/1/2007, with any output shaft speed (oss) sensor or turbine shaft speed (tss) sensor diagnostic trouble code(s) (dtcs) p0715, p0717, p0718, p0720, p0721, p0722 and/or harsh engagements, no upshift, fifth gear only, could have an intermittent short in the oss or tss sensor. Ford knows about this flaw and common problem and there is a TSB, but no recall. This is the problem that is causing the symptoms in the video.
I have a 2008 Ford Edge, I have been noticing over the past few months that at random times the car will lurch forward when accelerating as if it suddenly received a burst of speed. One day I was at a stop light and I took my foot off the brake so that I could drive and the car wouldn't move and when I pressed harder on the accelerator there was a loud bang noise that sounded like the car suddenly clicked into drive. It has been happening more and more often where it lags and sticks and lurches forward when it finally wants to go. Today, it had serious issues where I was trying to accelerate and the car was instead slowing down and lurching forward with the sound of the engine straining and making noise. I had to pull over because the cars behind me had to go around me. I was extremely nervous that the car would stall in the middle of the road or cause an accident. When I pulled over and turned the car off and then turned it back on the problem seemed to lessen I only drove at a low speed to avoid an accident. I have two children and this car is unsafe to drive. I will take it to the dealership ASAP. It also rolls backward on an incline. Ford needs to do a recall on this vehicle because I have done some online research today and see that many many people have experienced the same problems. This is an extremely dangerous issue and needs to be addressed.
I was driving under normal conditions at about 35 mph when the transmission seemed to be slipping and the wrench came on the dash and the car lost all power . I came to a stop and shut the car off and checked the transmission fluid and it was good. I started the car again and it would rev high but barely move. I got home slowly and parked it and when I came back out later and tried it, all the power was back and the wrench was gone and it didn't clunk into gears like it was earlier. I think by shutting it off and taking out the key for a couple hours reset a computer glitch in this car. I have heard many stories just like mine and speaking for many 08 Edge owners we want this recalled. This could result in tons of mechanic bills and unanswered issues for owners.
Vehicle lost all power while driving in traffic and steering locked when turning the corner at intersection causing loss of control of vehicle. This has happened on several occasions under random conditions. Weather conditions, vehicle temperature, speed, direction, braking or acceleration does not have any factors when this happens. The vehicle shuts off randomly and power is lost. No codes or warning of any kind. Ford factory has investigated, wiring harness to the mass airflow sensor has been replaced but still continues to have the same problem.
This has now happened to me twice with both my small children in the car while on the highway, at highway speeds. T he speedometer went to 0, the maintenance wrench display lit up, along with the error message "tire pressure monitor fault" (or something to that effect) and I was unable after stopping at a stop light to accelerate almost causing the person behind me to rear end me. Once getting to my home when putting the car into park it makes a loud clunking noise then proceeds to jerk the entire vehicle. After letting the car sit for an hour I tried to turn it one once again and test driving a few feet forward, it only moved at a slow pace when gas pedal applied.
From time to time while driving wheather on a side road or on a highway in partiular at acceleration the powertrain malfunction/ reduced power light comes on then immediately following there is an extreme loss of power. Accelerator pressed to the floor will allow acceleration but with very minimal tork. I am cocerned this can lead to a dangerous situtation especially on a highway setting. Also the air bag service light, low tire pressure warning light and the serviced engine soon light all light up. There is also an odometer read error, speedometer and tachometer malfuction. The transmission shifts very roughly in and out of reverse and drive. This event generaly last until the vechicle is completely shut down and an appearant reset occurs. There is a period of normal operation for some time and then seems to spike in clusters of events.
Gauges on dash stop working. Tool symbol shows up also tire pressure warning and exclamation mark. Carstarts to slow down. When car is put in reverse it makes a loud clucking noise. Like the motor is gonna fall out. Can't drive it forward but u can go in reverse. This has happened several times. If you let the car sit for a few days it goes back to normal. This has to be a serious problem because lots of people on youtube have posted videos of the same problem! now I'm stuck over 100 miles away from home. Not cool Ford!!!!!.
2008 Ford Edge: I was stopped at an intersection pulling out into traffic after driving normally for about 15 minutes. When I hit the accelerator their was no power and the car inched forward at low speed and the rpms increased dramatically. I was able to hit the brake before an oncoming vehicle almost hit my drivers side as I was attempting to take a left. Once I was able to pull over in a safe location, I put it in park and tried to re-engage the transimission in drive. The vehicle was still unresponsive, no power to accelerate. I then shut off the car and restarted and the car behaved normally after the restart. I have had this car for 3 years with no similar issues. This is a safety concern because there is no warning sign and the car does not accelerate as expected. I was lucky that I was able to stop in time without getting hit by the oncoming traffic.
While driving down the highway the speedometer stopped and went to 0 mph, the odometer read dashes, the wrench illuminated in the corner, and the airbag warning sign appeared. The rpm's in my vehicle began to climb higher as well and the car speed began to decrease, again I was on the highway. I got off an exit about 1. 5 miles from when I noticed the problem start. After slowing down at the end of the exit I noticed my car would barely move and it slowly crept until I was at a safe spot to park. As soon as I parked other warning lights began flashing such as the tire pressure sign and another that I can not remember. I turned the car off and then back on and I experienced a hard start, which was loud, and when I went to change gears the car jerked violently as if the motor was jumping. When placing in reverse gear the jerk was even more violent as if I was being rear ended. I turned the car off and back on multiple times and changed the gears and each time it did the same thing. When trying to see if the car would move I had to push the gas pedal almost all the way to the floor before the car would even move a little bit and again the rpm's revved really high. I ended up calling a tow truck and my car is currently in the shop. Prior to this incident I experienced occasional jerking while driving and the car was switching gears.
Transmission seems to be a issue with the Ford Edge. Why has there not been a recall on this product? so many complaints on the Ford Edge transmission. I witness this first hand, may 2, 2014. While driving on the high way, my car out of know where seem to have lost power. The only thing that was moving was the rpm, but the car was slowing down. Finally after pulling to the side of the highway, and turning the car off, it reset some how and at least got me to work. I had to get the car towed from work back home because I did not want to run into the same issue. I did research and seems like I have not been the only one with this issue. Matter of fact there is a long list on you tube. What has Ford done to correct this issue. Other than repeatedly taking income from hard working consumers, for a issue that has not been resolved.
While driving my 2008 Ford Edge it would not shift than a loud bang and slammed into gear ,went for a short time then would not shift lights came on dash board tech reved up no speedometer.
Here is the link to an exact detailed explanation. When I lost power my car rolled into the middle of the intersection and was hit. . Read more...
After driving the vehicle for 20 minutes it began to slow down and the more gas (peddle pressure) we gave it the slower it continued. It felt as though it was chugging' along and 'sputtering'.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while turning right at unknown speeds, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact was able to stop the vehicle by applying the brakes. The contact stated that the failure happened several times before. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer. The failure mileage was 38,000 and the current mileage was 54,000.
Driving the interstate car seemed to kick out of gear and engine revved up. . Went in and out of gear. Also after that car shifted very hard in 1st 3 gears. . It worked fine for awhile and then did it again a few months later. . After a few more episodes over a years time the transmission finally went out while my wife was in the middle of an intersection. . Luckily,it coasted enough to get off the road. . I was able to get it home in 1st gear, but, wouldn't go into gear after a stop light. . Had to put in park and back into drive. . Had the transmission replaced and ok so far, but, something should be done about this. . She could have been in a crash as it was a high speed intersection. .
I own a 2008 Ford Edge. I have had it for just over 30 days and have had problems with it since the week that I purchased it. I have had it to the dealership several times and they are telling me that since there are no codes reading out and no light on and that they cant replicate the problem that they don't know what to do. I am supposed to monitor and call back with worse symptoms. I called them in Thursday because I was on my way to work and my car skipped the whole way up a hill on the highway and when I got to the top of it my car completely powered down and shut off with the key still in the ignition and in the in position. I had to get off the road very quickly to avoid being hit by a 18 wheeler. I am happy that my child was not in the car but I am now scared for my family and my safety as well as others. Severely unhappy with this vehicle!!!!!.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Edge. While driving 20 mph, the contact stated that the vehicle suddenly began to accelerate uncontrollably and without warning, causing the contact to crash into a nearby vehicle. The contact suffered several minor injuries due to the crash and a police report was filed. The vehicle had not been diagnosed and had not been repaired. The failure mileage was not available.
My wife was driving the vehicle and upon acceleration from a complete stop, the vehicle randomly would go into a "neutral-like" state. Rpms would increase dramatically, but the car would crawl between 3-5mph. The message, "od read error" would display on the dashboard, power steering would go out and brakes would not respond well (it was as if the car had turned off). When shifting from drive to park or reverse, the vehicle would jerk forward violently, as if rear-ended. Once the car was turned off and started again, the problem would go away. We brought the vehicle to the dealership multiple times and the dealership even determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. This was only at 37,600 miles. The dealer said it was a transmission issue, but it appears to be an on-board computer issue as well. After transmission was replaced, 5 weeks later had issue with shifting into first gear. Vehicle shifted very hard into first gear. Car is back down at the dealership again. Wrote a letter to Ford expressing my concern and requested the car be repurchased, they denied my request.
I have a 2008 Ford Edge purchased in 2011 6 months after purchase all of the lights came on in vehicle and the car was stalling. It would rev up but it was unable to pick up speed. I took it car dealership and they said they could not find problem. After the car sat for a while it started working fine. A couple of months later again the same problem we towed it to dealer and they said the same thing they could not detect the problem. This is continuing to happen. Again today Dec 2013 while driving the car started revving and would not pick up speed. I really don't know what to do at this point. I will never purchase another Ford again and would like to know what I could do about this issue. I have googled this issue and see that there are several people experiencing the same issue.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Edge. The contact was driving approximately 15 mph and approaching a traffic stop when the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle lunged forwardly in a jerking motion. The engine rpms began to increase rapidly to 3. 5 which caused the vehicle to crash into another vehicle. A police report was filed. The contact stated that the bumpers would need to be replaced on both vehicles due to the impact during the rear end crash. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 66,000. Updated 03/08/11.
Upon acceleration the rpm's will go up yet the car will slow down and you will feel a bang as if someone has rear-ended you. This has happened quite a few times within a year of us purchasing it brand new. The dealer couldn't find anything wrong several times I brought it to them. Finally, I left it there a few months ago and wouldn't take it back until it was fixed. They re-did the transmission and said it is fixed. I have been having the same issue with it still. I almost got into a car accident because it did it as I was turning and it just wouldn't kick into gear, then a big bang and it goes. I almost got hit dead on. Now they are telling me they can't do anything about it because I have 60,240 miles on it and it is out of warranty at 60,000. I have been complaining about it since they fixed it but everytime I went to bring it there to have it checked, they didn't have a loaner or the tech who needs to look at it is off. We called corporate and they did nothing. This is ridiculous that I am reading so many other people having the same issue and nothing is getting done - no recalls, nothing. This is unfair as to I have maintained everything on this vehicle and it should not be doing this. This is a Ford issue and they should be taking care of this. It is not the consumers fault for poor manufacturing of a vehicle that was advertised so great! they should be fixing this issue before someone gets hurt or killed in an accident.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Edge. The contact stated as he was driving coming to a stop behind another vehicle, the accelerator pedal raced very high and he crashed into the back of another vehicle. The right side of his vehicle was badly damaged but no one was injured. The police came and a report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the body shop and it will be towed to the dealer after it is repaired. The manufacturer had not been called. The failure mileage was 54,000.
It happened when I came off the highway onto the side road, there was a loud clunk in the rear of the vehicle and I lost power to drive, and when I pressed the gas it would only go 30 miles of speed. I went into a parking lot, turned the motor off and let it sit for 10 min. I restarted it and it seemed fine. But now on a regular basis it will clunk in the rear like I have been hit and then clear up and drive good. I have had it checked many times by Ford and other places but no one can find anything wrong with the drive train. I notice on Ford forum that many people are having the same problem. There should be a recall for this vehicle by Ford to cover all Ford Edges from 2008 to 2010 and have the drive trains replaced, even if they can not find any problems. Or find out what is really happening to this vehicle and have them all recalled to fix the problem.
