1 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2024

Brake fail's due to leak in brake booster, brakes still work but extreme pressure on pedal required to stop car and extra time and distance required to stop or slow car. Car garaged entire life and only just turned 100k on odometer. This should be a recall in the interest of safety as many people have reported this and no action on Ford's part to correct this dangerous situation. This has been talked about many times on internet.

4 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2019

I was driving in the city and as I slowed coming to a stop light I pressed the brake and it was hard and wasn't stopping. I got it stopped. I headed home and a car was suddenly stopping in front of me, I stepped on the pedal and it went to the floorboard I had to pump to get it to catch I had to swerve into the next lane to avoid an accident. As I pulled into driveway and pressed on brake if hissed and chirped, this is very dangerous, I only have 66,000 miles on my car. Why has Ford not been recalled on this matter from all the complaint out there about this all the way back to 2007? my husband is a car guy and he said it was the brake booster failing. Descriptions from other complaints and mechanical information comfirmed it. Along with Fords attempt to minimize the large problem on all Edge vehicles with an extended warranty on the brake booster on some vehicles # 13no2 and in complaints on this site.

5 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2019

Known issue customer satisfaction program 13n02 for failed brake booster. Ours failed and Ford states it is not covered. Car is under 10 years old and under 150,000 miles. Their own program states these brake boosters fail on this make, model and year yet they get away without fixing it due to my VIN falling outside the covered vehicles. Not sure how a known safety issue like this that leads to unsafe driving while the problem develops and is realized is not mandated into a recall. It is slightly noticable at first so we kept driving the vehicle. After a number of close calls due to the brakes not applying when pressing the brake pedal, we took it in to north country Ford in coon rapids mn and they confirmed the brake booster needs to be replaced.

13 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2017

The brakes on the Edge had an audible hissing sound when compressed both when the vehicle was in park and in motion. If the brakes were pressed multiple times in short order (I. E. In rush hour traffic) the response of the system would be inconsistent as it was sometimes "squishy" and other very hard. This seemed to affect the responsiveness of the system. Upon taking it to a mechanic, it was revealed that the brake booster was failing and would continue to affect the braking performance until replaced. After a little research, Ford recall 13n02 was issued for 2010 - 2013 Edges for brake boost failure. Ford rejected my claim stating that this VIN number was good and not part of the issue despite the fact I had the same symptoms affecting the performance of the braking system and a professional mechanic diagnosed a failed booster as described in the recall. This issue seems to affect more than the vehicles named in the recall and it is a matter of safety when you cannot trust the performance and response of a vehicle especially on interstates with other vehicles traveling at high speed. The only fix is to replace the booster which will allow the brake system to function as designed.

14 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2017

My power booster for brakes failed. There was a bulletin for my make and model however Ford claimed that because it was made at another plant it did not fit the criteria. It had the same issues as the vehicles made in the other plant, I fail to understand how they can cover it from one location and not another. The car only has 107k miles and is 7 years old. Their bulletin covered 150k miles or 10 years making me believe since we came under all of that it is a defect issue.

15 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2016

Brakes were making noise. Dealership charged me ~$1,500 to replace brake booster and parking brake control module. However, just found issuance 13n02, which extended warranty for same problem for other years of this make and model. Please extend the recall to include 2010 Ford Edge. The brakes should not fail like this in a 6 year old car with only 60k miles!.
