Driver's door sensor failed - car won't sense that the door is closed when it is.
We went to get in the car, closed the door and the driver door ajar warning came on with the door closed. It does on occasion go off temporarily then comes back on. Was told by dealership that Ford has known about problem for about a year. If this is the case there should be a recall for the part.
Driver door ajar light came on when door was closed securely. Occurred intermittently at first, but then happened all the time. Repaired under warranty. Around may of 2013 (out of warranty by a few months) the same thing happened. Will cost $300-400 to fix. In the meantime, my doors will not remain locked while driving and the interior lights remain on for a long time before going off, using battery power. In researching this, it appears to have been a problem with Ford cars for a number of years. Having to replace this sensor twice in three years is unacceptable!.
